Already reached their goal, pretty pumped that this is happening. Just another resource I can use in my future classroom

Wasn't crazy about Reading Rainbow as a kid. But when Mr. Rogers rolled the trolley out and went of the land of make believe now that was the shite

I don't like this type of use of kickstarter. Someone like Levar Burton should be able to get funds from other sources instead of milking the people. Would never fund something like this.

Again, isn't this the same as how funds are made for public broadcasting anyway?

I don't support PBS willing as well. I support them a very tiny percentage unwillingly.

if that was true it would have already happened b/c he has been trying to revive the show fora while now.

Well since he is wanting to do it through Youtube, why not just start the show really low budget and use the money you make from youtube views to build the show slowly. It seems to be immensely popular, so the show would get lots of views and rake in the cash. Some of those youtube gamer kids make quite a bit of cash that way.

As long as the product proposed actually gets made and released I see this as more direct to consumer than milking the consumer. However, if their goal was $500k it seems like he could have gone to Amazon and easily gotten a sponsorship deal.

It's not just a show. It's going to be a whole program that goes to schools encouraging kids to read. It's going to be web based and classroom based. If you are going to comment, at least watch the kickstarter video, dude.

im sure he couldnt just raise $1 million very easily. kickstarter took him 1 day. cant get easier than that.

theres only a handful of people that make a living off their youtube videos. you dont make that much on your videos.

Yeah, he has a lot of options open to him than a normal person. Freakin LeVar Burton has a lot more paths open to him than Kickstarter. I like seeing little guys with great ideas on there pursue their dreams, not Celebs pushing their pet projects. Seems to be getting more commmon on kickstarter.
