Did anyone watch this 6 part doc series on Kevin Hart? It's not bad, but the dude comes off as kind of an a-hole in it. I get that his goal is to be the most successful guy in any room, but damn he treats some people like shite and he's hard headed, even when people tell him he is blatantly wrong. I admire his hustle, but he's not a humble guy at all. Thoughts?

I'd imagine most mega rich people have to be assholes pretty often.

No way in hell I'm watching a 6 part doc on Kevin Hart, but I've always assumed he has a massive Napoleon Complex.

It's really easy to be Mr Nice Guy if you come from the background of a Mulaney, Kroll, Birbiglia, Ansari, etc where your parents are wealthy enough that you could fall arse-backwards into a 6 figure white collar job if things went bad.

Kevin Hart didn't go to a 50k/yr private school or Georgetown or NYU or Harvard for college, and his parents didn't run a major law practice or business conglomerate. His dad was literally a crack addict. He went to community college.

When people come up in show business the hard way, they know how close they are to losing everything and are justifiably defensive and protective of their careers and lifestyles.

If you watch his episode of Comedians in Cars, he comes off as incredibly humble and excited to rub elbows and talk shop with another wealthy comedian. It's obvious his main crew isn't as passionate about the same intellectual and creative endeavors that he is.

Was this done before or after the car accident?

He's friends with Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle (they're in the doc). He rubs elbows with other wealthy comedians a lot. He's good at putting on the "nice guy" face when he has to.

Kevin is not my favorite comedian because at times i think he tries entirely too hard to be funny. But I respect him because he is a hard working person that worked his butt off to attain a hell of a lot of money.

My biggest take away from this was I had no idea Stringer Bell is British. He’s a great actor.

I think so too, especially with his new stuff today. But I was watching 40 year old virgin the other day and his little scene in that is damn funny. I like the old Kevin.

But I realize you have to change it up so you don't get stale.

I’m going to call BS on that one. I know I’m jumping into a different field but let’s take Kelly Clarkson as an example. She’s known as one of the most down to earth and humble celebrities out there. Ask anyone who knew her when she first won Idol and they tell you she is exactly the same, hasn’t changed a bit. But here she is, well past what should be her peak as a pop singer and she has her own talk show, is killing it as a judge on The Voice and still sells out arenas and soon to start a short residency in Vegas. You don’t have to be an a-hole to get ahead or stay there.
