Yes. Helping the movie be a theatrical success for the new owners when WB/Viacom was trying desperately to kill the movie to reap the tax benefits in claiming the whole thing as a loss.

They’ll shrug their shoulders and say it’s a one off because of the internet backlash.

And they will be right

Hitting these cretins in the wallet while supporting content we actually want to see is the only thing that will eventually pop up on their radar.

There was a Looney Tunes movie released just a few weeks ago and it was a major bomb. The Lebron Space Jam didn't do well either.

Now the movie is being shopped with Apple, Amazon and Netflix taking interest.

Article is from 2023. Not a good sign when three major streaming platforms pass on it.

Then blame the wide audiences when the slop product that hits the theater doesn’t make back its budget, when the whole point is to not make the budget back for these purposes anyway.

Sure. That's the not the issue at play with Looney Tunes and WB, or with Discovery and their whole philosophy of cutting debt by killing the previous iteration of the company's films.

This is a little exaggerated. It wasn't a $200 million budget movie. So far it's made over $10 million which doesn't make it a success but it's not a major bomb.

To be fair, it wasn't distributed by WB and did not have much of an advertising campaign. Ketchup Entertainment isn't exactly some major force in the film industry that has a history of putting butts in theater seats. Most of their money seems to be made releasing stuff made by Open Road Films to the home market.

Makes you wonder how many great movies there are out there that will never see the light of day.
