Anyone watch this series yet? Four episodes long not a bad watch. Warren Jeffs was a messed up dude.

On Episode 3 now. That's some F up shite right there

Fascinating series. I am amazed at how commonplace they make polygamy sound and how vast these family trees become.

I wonder why they didn’t get into any of the allegations of Warren Jeffs molesting the little girls and boys. There was a different documentary on this subject years ago. Really creepy shite this dude did. I don’t feel like this one got into that enough.

My wife started it today and I came in and out. I worked with the pilot who found them in the beginning of episode 3 and when they talk about the court case and they showed him going down some stairs my mom worked in that basement in San Angelo probation offices. surreal AF to see some steps I walked down a dozen times in a Netflix documentary.
The psychosis that lets these people still follow him is astonishing to me. Mainly the women that have been raped and gaslit.
Just very unreal.

You have to give them credit for one thing. MFers can procreate like no other

It always amazes me how many people consistently get caught up in these cults and believe without a doubt.

Watching it now. I read a book years ago from one of the women that escaped all that and it was also pretty interesting. Just so sad what they brainwashed those people to believe.
This was all over the news here in AZ when he was arrested.
When I worked the pediatric floor we would see kids from time to time from Colorado City (which is the AZ part of Short Creek). We would see several “aunts” at the bedside of the patient in the typical prairie dresses and signature “I’m a sister wife” hairstyle.
Sadly…because the gene pool is pretty shallow in that community we saw several kids with lots of health issues.

I've always wondered that myself

I guess I am stuck on the demographics involved. If some men have 2+ wives, would that not block other men from having any? I assume birthrates of 50% male and 50% female.

I just watched all 4 episodes. It was very well made. Super maddening.
Like, I feel bad for what so many of the women and kids went through, and I feel even worse for the ones who are still a part of the FLDS church looking at Jeffs like he’s some kind of martyr. It’s so sad to me that I can’t properly put it into words.

That’s why they got rid of a lot of the younger men there. Them dumping lots of teen boys in Salt Lake, etc. More wives to give to the other older men. And I’m guessing if a man died….his wives got divided up to other men.

This. Joe seems like a good ol' baw straight from the rig that should have just beat the frick outta Jeffs instead of hunting his girl down and convincing her to return.

One of the craziest stories I’ve ever heard. Almost done with the third part and I feel sick to my stomach. Where the frick was the fbi?!?!?

Wait until part 4. Warren Jeffs should have been given the death penalty.

Showtime has a great documentary on this called Prophet's Prey. It weirded me out big time.

My question is how he hasn’t been offed in prison and how are the feds letting him continue to run the church within the prison walls
