Only one of the three you mentioned deserves the praise it got and that was the new Spider-Man movie. Civil War and Thor 3 were both not as good as advertised.

I liked civil war but those other 2 were boring for me. I respect what Marvel has been able to accomplish, especially with a lot of their B characters, but the films are completely forgettable IMO.

I just don’t get the love for Thor 3. The tonal shifts compared to the first two Thor films, as well of the character of Thor himself, is jarring. The same thing goes for Bruce Banner and the Hulk. There’s no consistency or proper continuity. It’s basically another Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

a little bit but i didnt think it was that bad. They needed a "fun" movie before the Thanos movies which are going to be sprawling epics.

So you're willing to totally dismiss four films worth of character establishment/development because you thought two of them were garbage? In those four films Thor was a stoic and self-important superhero whose aloofness produced quite a few moments that were quite funny. Case in point:

Thor 3 turned him into a wise-cracking, joke dropping Star Lord clone.

To each their own but I personally thought it was over the top bad.

Phase Three has been nothing but "fun" movies. With the exception of Captain America: Civil War, every single one of them can be labeled an action comedy.

Well I suppose there's no accounting for taste.

I have serious doubts about that. Age of Ultron was built up to be this dark and epic clash with a super smart cyborg. What it turned into was a farce because Disney wouldn't let Whedon go all-in on the grit like he wanted to.

I have no doubt Infinity Wars will be filled with some epic fight scenes as well as some dark moments, but I fully expect the vast majority of the major characters to survive the confrontation.

Okay Sarah Michelle Gellar

Subject change, so did The Flash rape Wonder Woman or what? He took some serious liberties at the very least. Surprised this isn't getting more play.

The big issue I had with Thor 3 is that EVERY character was trying to be a comedian. I think these type of movies work better when there's only one or two comic relief characters while everyone else plays it straight. They may have funny moments by playing it straight, but it feels more natural that way. Even Hera had some comedic lines.

The biggest issues I had were Bruce Banner and Loki. Yeah, I know Loki is the god of mischief, but I felt like him and the rest of the cast were trying to drop one liner after one liner. It didn't fit everyone's character and acting styles. Korg was the most hilarious and natural, and that was the director.

I like the movie, but I had some issues with that.

That was a funny scene.

Gal gadot is a fantastic Wonder Woman though. Didn’t this board lose their minds when she was picked?

That whole scene was added by Whedon

Aha. It was amusing, but clearly I didn't give it as much thought as you.

Yep. And it was actually supposed to be more comedic.
quote:

“My scene with Batman was originally conceived as a comedic scene,” McCallany told Men’s Fitness in a recent interview. “That’s how Joss [Whedon] wrote it, and that’s how we shot it. I thought it came out great, but the studio felt it would be a mistake to open the film with a completely comedic scene, so it was re-edited a little bit.”
