And holy shite that was a great show. Best I've seen in a long time. Great acting. Great story. Very engaging. Harrelson and McConaughey work well together.

I don't know how season 2 comes close. Just blown away.

Now off to watch some Archer...

McConaughey and Harrelson had the best on-screen chemistry/presence together that I've ever seen on a TV show.

CHEMISTRY!!!

Thank you. I've been searching for that word for two days now. Literally plugged in all the following words into a thesaurus looking for the right word: dynamic, interplay, interaction, relationship.

Whew.

Good to see that people who didn't watch it serially didn't experience a let-down like some who had to wait a whole week and so let their imaginations run wild.

I'm actually expecting Season 2 to be much better. I think Nic will have learned a lot from the first season.

it built up to...nothing, basically. it was a bait and switch from the first few episodes when they built up the mystery/setting

They were looking for a murderer and found a murderer. Can you elaborate on the bait and switch? I also don't understand how it built up to "nothing".

best nood scenes in a TV show I've seen.

If I was 13 I would undoubtedly have fapped to True Detective.

A lot of people here (like SFP) took the first half of the show and thought it was gonna be about something completely different, basically. So they spent pages and pages in threads shitting all over the show and how it had this impossibly high bar to live up to. Simply put, they were setting themselves up to be disappointed no matter what happened, and that turned into almost a desire to hope the show didn't live up to things for the I told you so's. They took all of the clues and mysteries and crammed a bunch of deeper meanings into everything, even after the creators of the show said that it's a straightforward story about the case (which it was).

Sure, there were a couple of things they could've addressed ot maybe wrapped up more clearly, but for me, it still ended pretty well. But for a lot of people here, it was some tragic, horrible, terrible, stupid letdown.

I can't really think of what else it could have been. It was a murder mystery from the beginning. I don't want to make you regurgitate all of it, but cliff notes on what they thought the show was going to be?

In summation: Jake wanted some attention, and he got it.
