No Tom Bombadil, no care.

Movies were great. Extended version did clear up some holes if you didn't read the books.

I’ve posted this before, but go check out this YouTube channel. So much awesome stuff from behind the scenes on LOTR:

Having Gimli be the portly jolly comic relief was pretty aggravating but i understand the need for levity

Agreed. It wasn't bad in Fellowship, but by RotK it was over the top and shameful.

But I still love the trilogy. Too bad they never followed up with a Hobbit movie or two....

I have been watching "Nerd of the rings" which is some guy on youtube. It's pretty awesome if you want to nerd out about different characters/eras and just all around lore.

He picks a subject and does a deep dive into it.

The attention to detail put into this trilogy is legendary.

It was a love letter to Tolkien.

ROP was hate mail.

Men of the West and Tolkien Untangled are my go to channels if you want some more in depth stuff

Men of the West is very factual and to the point, Tolkien Untangled goes more in depth than any other channel I’ve seen. Took me a sec to get past his delivery, but now I love his channel more than others due to his long form story type depth

Thanks! I'll check this out. I think the Nerd of the Rings guy is factual since he seems to be pretty big. I like how he references Tolkien's notes and stuff to fill in some gaps.

One video that I found interesting was the notes for a possible sequel but obviously that didn't get flushed out enough.

I too did this. I was one of the few not in full costume. I felt like a nerd from both sides.

1) Look at the nerd doing an all day LoTR movie viewing.

2) Look at the nerd at an all day LoTR movie viewing not in costume.
