I remember several years back the rumor was that Spielberg wanted to go forward with a script about the military using dinosaurs carrying weapons.
Thought it was over some plotlines from the books that went on the cutting floor in the first 2 movies.
One was dinos on the mainland.
Although I guess they kinda blew that load with the San Diego sequence.

Someone should sneak live Dinosaurs into a major city and watch as chaos ensues

I either loved or liked all three JP movies.
The first one was obviously incredible.
The second one was lacking, but still pretty legit, aside from a few annoying "suspension of belief" scenes (girl swinging and kicking raptors, the trailers hanging off the side of the cliff, etc.).
The third one...not sure why that one gets a lot of hate. I thought it was better than the second one, and holds itself pretty high compared to the first. It's one of the better third entries in a trilogy (or more). My main complaint was that it was just too short...everything felt rushed. Also, as much as I liked the Teradons being in the movie (and the giant cage), I didn't like them escaping at the end.
And actually, I would have loved the second one if not for the end when the T-Rex gets loose in the city. I thought that was stupid.

Thing is with the second one is that the antagonists I actually slightly side with them. So what if they are trying to get some dinosaurs in captivity? Top it off that our protagonists frick literally everything up and nearly get everyone killed constantly, yet the "bad guys" save their asses constantly, despite the fact that they've nearly gotten them killed.
The third one on the otherhand sucks because there is no plot. Its just running from dinosaurs. They literally started filming without a script. Seems kinda essential to have that complete with an action or dramatic film. This isn't comedic improv.

Speaking of which. With Hollywood remaking every single cartoon, comic or board game from my youth when the hell are we gonna get a damn Dino Riders movie!

I've come to realize that you kind of enjoy pretty much every terrible movie that I like bashing.

Some people just enjoy bad movies. My old boss was like that. He always talked about how he thought Episode II was his favorite Star Wars movie.

With me, I just recognize that movies are made to entertain me. I don't go into them trying to analyze every little thing for correctness or logic (although it's fun to do sometimes with some movies), and I don't leave them trying to be pissed off at the plotholes or whatever. Basically, if a movie is decent, I'll enjoy it. So I'm fairly wasy to please for the most part.
With The Lost World, was it the best movie ever? Of course not. But I enjoyed it and it kept me entertained throughout. That's good enough for me to like it.
Perfect example is Transformers 2. I'll assume you hated it (lots of people did). But I went into it wanting to sort of shut my brain off and see cool transformers and lots of shite blowing up. I didn't really care that there were plotholes, or that those holes were ginormous. Because I went into it expecting to see a Transformers movie and not some Oscar-caliber movie with a well-thought-out plot/script.

Plinkett came to the conclusion (one I agreed with prior to his review) that it was the worst of the prequels.

Call it that if you want. But I just know how to temper my expectations before I watch a movie. Most of the time, I get exactly what I expected from a movie, and that's cool for me. And obviously there are exceptions from time to time (like The Prestige, for example, which is in my top 5 movies).

I'm with you one the whole shutting down my brain thing but this movie had such giant problems that if you ignored them then you really are just watching 30 second clips of fights strung together with unintelligible shite in between. I'd have to lobotomize myself to be able to ignore its problems.

I think a prequel would be pretty cool... Maybe explain how Newman becomes EVIL

Nah, it made sense...just could be picked to death with its inaccuracies (and rightfully so, to an extent). But it all "made sense" in the realm of the movie. Or to put it a better way, it made enough sense that it worked and didn't ruin the movie for me. TF2 is the definition of mindless entertainment.
But I am in the vast minority with my views on TF2.

What were some movies that have disappointed you? Not trying to argue at all, just curious.
I mean I really liked Transformers 1, and was really looking forward to the second. I dint think there is anything wrong with expecting a sequel to be as good as the first. That's probably how most people feel actually. So why wouldn't I criticize T2? it was a HUGE letdown, not just in a good movie/plot sense, but just in comparison to the original. So I openly complain about.

Well, sequels are rarely as good as or better than the firsts. But that aside, my thoguhts on TF2 have been posted on here a hundred times...basically, if you went into ANY Transformers movie expecting more than cool transformers and lots of shite blowing up, you were in for disappointment. On top of that, TF2 contained the same basic shite as the first one, just more over-the-top in just about all aspects. The transformers were more abstract (like the huge Voltron transformer thing), the jokes were even cornier and awkward (and forced), etc. And most people have the most problems with the plotholes (like the jumps to the desert, for example). And that is understandable, but should have been expected, as they were in the first one as well.
My mantra on TF2 was that you can't bitch about it, because you knew EXACTLY what to expect going in. And if you didn't, you should have. Because it was all the same shite, just more over the top and more in your face.
But as usual, I am in the minority on those feelings, and most people just feel like their 9 bucks were just wasted on terrible cinema.

Forgot to answer this:
Well, I usually tend to avoid movies that I know (or don't think) I would like. So there haven't been too many disappointments in theaters. Dreamcatchers was one though. Looked so cool and interesting in the trailers, and was cool for about half of it, and then it sucked. Most I've seen in theaters and not liked were because someone else I was with wanted to see them (like Freddie Got Fingered, for example).
There are some I've bought and not liked, like Cabin Fever, which is one of the worst movies I've ever seen.
