Haven’t seen anything about this here but is anyone else pumped for this? The first teaser trailer I remember coming out in 2019 and it’s been delay after delay ever since. Almost thought it was abandoned, but it’s finally coming out

It’s about a cursed town that’s obsessed with spirals and really weird and messed up stuff starts happening to the inhabitants living there.

It looks really good as far as manga to anime goes. Music by Colin Stetson

I'm leery. Ito's work has rarely translated to animation. They have tried to make the artwork match his style using a combination of CGI and filters, but it still is different from being in print. We'll see though, I am hoping this is good.

I recently started reading manga and probably finished Uzumaki about 2 weeks ago. Now this is coming out. I'll definitely give it a watch.

The four episodes worked as a collection of creepy ideas and images much better than they did as a compelling or coherent narrative.

Besides that though, which was jarring the first time I watched episode 1, I mean the animation has looked like high school student work in some parts

It reminded me of those "animated" graphic novels they would release on DVD in the early 2000s. It's better than those, but not by a lot.

Is the art not directly out of the manga? I no nothing about Junji Ito's work.

Well that’s kinda what I guessed probably happened. I thought maybe they did episode 1 around 2019-2020 pre-Covid. Then hardly any work at all happened until people started wondering if it would ever air. Then they just pushed the rest out this summer.
