Oliver was pretty good at TDS, but now on his HBO show he is really, really good.

Yea, I hope they allow them to poke fun at the entire spectrum.

Just like Stewart was and did.

as the only non-sports show that i have consistently watched since as far back as i can remember, the news about Stewart sucks..... always knew it would be a certain that he'd leave, but didn't think it would be right now... always figured it'd be after a presidential election for some reason....

Jordan Klepper would do really well, but he may not be a big enough name for CC.... Asif Mandvi would do well too, but again, not a big name....

i'd quit watching if it were Ferguson.... and i can't see Oliver coming back over what he has with HBO.... he parlayed that temp desk to a long term career quite nicely...

what about Galifinakis? he's hosted a show before, and does great interviews... i'm pretty sure they aren't doing a Hangover 4, and considering how well other movies have done not name Hangover have done for him, he may be interested..... just throwing it out there....

Why is that? I've always found him very funny and his interviews are always off-beat in a good way.

Galifinakis would have ZERO interest in that daily grind. No shot whatsoever.

They will come after Oliver hard.

Yeah, you're right. I always forget Carolla leans that way, I just always like him because he says it like it is.

I really enjoy his podcast.

I'm curious what they would've done if he retired like say 2 years ago before Colbert gets the CBS gig

Would they just replace him and gave Colbert the lead in spot? Or block Colbert for an hour? I could see Colbert doing TDS then switching sets and personas to the CR

Good grief that's foolish. Stewart would have his occasional laugh at the expense of the left but that was usually when a story was so huge he couldn't avoid it. Even then he threw in shots at the right just to let his fans know he hadn't departed the reservation.

That's foolish. He did it frequently.

Have you watched the show? Yea, he made fun of conservatives much more frequently, but to say he didn't make fun of democrats a ton and on stories that weren't huge is just a lie.

It's more the fact Carolla really doesn't give a frick anymore and will say controversial shite and never apologize for it. They'll have a controversy within his first month.

No one said he never went after the left on occasion so keep your lying accusations to yourself. However, the rate of frequency was highly skewed to the right. He stopped being funny when he became an advocate.

I sincerely doubt leaves HBO when that show is such a massive success. Plus I doubt he'd be disloyal and leave at the first opportunity.

That said, he killed as host of The Daily Show while Stewart was directing. He'd be a home run, but I don't see him leaving so soon.

It's a lie to say that he only occasionally made fun of democrats and only on big stories.

Seriously how would you break down the negative stories surrounding libs and conservatives, percentage wise?

Colbert doing the daily show for 30 minutes then switching personas to do the report would have been amazing to watch

I already said that he made fun of conservatives much more frequently. That's not what's at issue. You said he only occasionally made fun of liberals and only on big stories. That's false.

So, what's the percentage? I want to see how you define occasionally.

Percentage doesn't matter. He makes fun of democrats for more than big stories, so your statement is false.
