Captain K wasn’t qualified enough to lead the defenses of a major city (hence his Captain title), but he could do it in a small town. He was seen as a low level useful idiot by his superiors outside of the town when he was smarter and more cunning than he let on.
And make no mistake: Steven Merchant and his fellow Gestapo agents were the people really in charge of the town and could have quickly fricked up Captain K if they so chose.

No, you want me to be offended by it when I'm actually coming from the opposite direction. Making him a buffoon is what downplays his atrocities. Hitler running and jumping giddily through the forest isn't exactly hard-hitting or insightful satire. Neither is the one-note gay guy flouncing around in a cape. If you want to explore that side of the resistance, maybe have him do a little more than put on some eyeliner and spin a couple pirouettes.
As far as offended, the only thing I've been offended by in here was you calling my World War II Air Force bomber pilot grandfather a Nazi. That shite was uncalled for and you should apologize for saying it. Call me whatever, it's water off a duck's back, I'll just tell you to eat a dick and we'll move forward. Leave my family out of it. But I suspect you're the type of internet a-hole that will just chuckle about being a colossal prick and post some childish got 'em meme.

Oh frick off. Do you think I’d take this shite from David Duke if he said his father helped liberate Auschwitz? No, and I’m not going to take it from you. I am not accountable for my ancestor’s sins nor are you morally righteous if your pappy did some good for the world when you haven’t done shite.
