It ain’t Christmas time in my household until I see Gus Polinski, the "Polka King of the Midwest”, on my TV screen.

Loved him in everything he did. I know he didn't star in it but he was great in Stripes.

He really was a great actor. Look at the range of roles from Splash, to Planes, Trains and Automobiles, to Uncle Buck.

Would love to have seen him in really dramatic stuff later in his life. He would have been excellent.

His scenes in JFK were great. “The government's gonna jump all over your head, Jimbo, and go "cock-a- doodledoo!”

I'd go with Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, Summer Rental, and since it hasn't been mentioned yet, Brewster's Millions.

His Orson Welles impersonation was great:

John Candy as Orson Welles on the Billy Crystal Comedy Hour (1982)

SCTV Liberace's Christmas Special

Before watching the two skits above, I'd listen to the Orson Welles frozen peas commercial outtakes which will help you appreciate how good his impersonation was:

Can't think of a movie he was in that I didn't like to be honest, even if only a bit part like in "Home Alone".

I love "Wagon's East" but it is a little sad since that was his last movie and he died before it was finished and released.

Candy is Soo loved by everyone that there won't be one single down vote.I first saw him on SCTV & Blues Brothers. Then Stripes.Him going through basic training was hilarious along with his mud wrestling with hot chicks. Was great as Tom Hanks brother in Splash! And every Thanksgiving Eve a few of us watch Planes Trains Automobiles. An all time great!

Candy is the most beloved and missed actor by far. His legacy carries on. Just seems like he was a good dude. All were good movies.

My favorite reply to people when they ask me if I've seen a movie is and always will be "is John Candy in it? If not I probably haven't."

There's not a bad John Candy movie.

He was just so likeable and a good actor.

You can't rate his movies.

You just enjoy them.

Only The Lonely is an overlooked gem.

Absolutely that movie showed Candy had the acting range to carry a romantic serious movie. Uncle Buck and Only The Lonely are my two favorite.

The Great Outdoors definitly is one of those movies I will stop and watch everytime.

And if you've ever spent time in northern Wisconsin and Minnesota, the movie holds up. Those places haven't changed at all.
