Jodie Foster has such a weird and specific career. Its like everyone just agreed "look we all get that you are a gay. So just play this long series of roles where the lead female is alone or not girly for whatever reason Just be a sad and broken yet strong and masculine woman. Not necessarily gay. But definitely not romantically straight."
Shes like the dramatic female Andy Dick. Just play a bunch of gay dudes who might not be.

Never saw it ... never thought she was hot. Never even thought she was a great actress other than in Taxi Driver.
I mean, Silence of the Lambs, there are/were a couple of other actresses that could have done that job. Holly Hunter for instance. I would have liked to see the audition tapes for Sandra Bullock.
Carney sucked.
The Accused sucked.
Contact sucked.
I never got the whole Jodi Foster thing.
I will type this though. She has handled her life and career with class and grace and I'll bet she is a really nice person irl.

I remember her earliest work as her best.
I am the same age as she and remember these billboard ads being everywhere in Florida (I turned 3 within a month of moving there).

I was into her when she was Becky Thatcher, but that was before I knew that movie had come out 10 years before I saw it.
Carny was just lesbian erotica without the actual scissoring. They made a lot of movies back then about recruiting lesbians and teaching them the ropes, like Personal Best.
I enjoyed her acting, but after the communist propaganda piece called Elysium, I don't care if I ever see her again.
