True, those were the two on my mind. But if you go back 10 years like you or someone else said, think of what TV has done during that time.

Jealous actress is jealous. She just want to get paid. Not she said she did not mind DOING a comic book movie.

I really don't see how it's hurting the rest of films out there. I think it's creating a new market sure, but not destroying the rest of the industry.

Yeah Jodie has it wrong. "Streaming" is ruining the future of "theater attendance".

Why would I leave my 70 inch 4K television, that can stream Netflix, Amazon, Vudu or Kodi apps, to go pay to watch Moonlight in a theater?

I need an IMAX spectacle to get me off my sofa. Sorry, Jodie.

She's not just talking about attendance.

She's talking about creativity and taking chances.

Not just cookie-cutter Superhero movies for teenagers. They are all rote and the Marvel ones are all basically the same.

Just non-stop action that you can never take seriously because they quip half way through like they know they are acting and almost break the 4th wall - like this is all a joke...wink, wink.

70's movies were no joke...everything wasn't a nod and a wink - don't take us seriously - it was TAKE us seriously. We are telling a real story that might affect your life - not just fighting in front of a green screen wearing leotards.

I can see where you're coming from. When I think back on how many films I've seen where I've thought "this movie is why I love going to the movies," there's really only a handful from from my life that make me feel like that.

The dark knight is definitely one of those, though!

This is the best that TV has ever been it’s it history. And I’m not even including streaming services. The creativity is still there. Just not on the big screen.

Think of the great shows put out since the Sopranos was released. The list is impressive.

I enjoy watching live action movies about my favorite childhood super heroes. It's better than watching some wannabe lesbian shite on men everyday.

This entirely. It costs a small fortune to go to the theater now so I reserve that for visual spectacles. Im perfectly happy watching serious dramas on my home theatre set up once they come up on demand.

Also, Hollywood isn't the only game in town anymore for entertainment. When I grew up there were 3 networks and TBS (being from GA). Going to the movie was a big deal and if you liked something you better go back and see it again because it'll be a decade before it was on TV and even then it was edited to be the ABC Sunday night movie.

Now I have more TV channels and streaming choices than I can ever hope to watch. There's really good shite out there too. Also Directors are able to stretch their legs over miniseries and multiple episodes. Hollywood has to go with tried formulas because if they don't we won't show up...we'll stream something instead.

With all of this content the bar is higher. You can't just throw a Silence of the Lambs out there now and have everybody ooohh and ahhhh because there's shite every bit as good coming out on multiple platforms all the time.

The bar has been raised and we benefit.

It's generational. The people making movies now are my age and love the same material I did.....and we now have the technology to make them happen. I was thrilled to see LOTR and still watch even shitty Marvel movies. It's fun and I don't need to be taught a lesson about all of the wrongs in the world as seen from Hollywood's perspective (I'm looking at you Elysium).

Thank you! Not everything has to be some moral or societal issue that has to make me reflect on myself for things I've never done against people I've never met. Movies are supposed to be fun.

And not everything has to be 1950's total escapism serials.

As modern movies are.

It's okay to have a few films that are about real life...and not fantasy.

I know everyone wants to live in fantasy-land but real dramas enrich/educate or enlighten people more than just - I had a fun time tuning out of life by watching fireballs explode from someone's hand. Great movies can be very enriching and enlightening and important. That doesn't apply to what's going on in Hollywood today. Even the method of filmmaking (let alone storylines) is rote.

Deer Hunter would never get made today.

It would be Twilight Hunter and you'd learn nothing about life, war, love and loss...except Werewolves can beat a Vampire in hand to hand combat.
