Gotta love how all the olds delude themselves into believing that this isn't how Hollywood has always been.

HW has ALWAYS found a money making genre and pumped out those kinds of films to the Nth degree. It's used to be film noir, and westerns, and musicals, and buddy cop flicks, and pure action movies w/gigantic muscle heads who can barely act...

It's no different than it's ever been other than the fact that it's now easy to create action set pieces with people who can fly, picks up cars, and live through missiles hitting their chests.

You need to go to the doctor. You are suffering from a bad case of good old days syndrome coupled with human politard centipede delusion.

Movies suck. 40s & 80s were the best decades but it’s not like the decades before or in between were garbage

That's nostalgia. I grew up in the 80's but those movies are popcorn over the top silliness...80's were just all about excess, money, muscles and cocaine. The 80's created the ridiculousness that we see in movies today.

I think film-making sort of died after the 1970's. The 70's were a golden but bloated era.

Studios took control after losing money with "auteurs" who spent whatever they wanted to get their artistic vision.

80's churned out the action hero - the modern superhero version we see today...and they were all the same basically...so the 80's is very similar to today's crap movie climate.

The 90's was all safe studio controlled. So today we have the 80's (the superhero) combined with safe 90's studio cookie-cutter films - and you get today's movies.

There's no auteurs, no real film-makers who have freedom - just studio blueprints...MREs (movies ready to eat.)

Appeal to the LCD. Big Hollywood’s been doing it for at least 20 years cause it works.

Having said that there are still plenty of awesome movies made every year.

Yes you are. It's clear cut case.

Jerking off the the 80s like its the greatest era for movies is hilarious when that era is no different than now. Over the top ridiculous action flicks, oodles of sequels, and plenty of remakes were the norm back then just like now.

Now instead of being a wide eyed kid who lacks cynicism and just wants to have fun you've turned bitter and forgotten how to let go.

Stop looking to get pissed off about little things in movies b/c they don't line up with how you imagined things would go in your head or b/c they aren't lock step your politics. You'll have lower blood pressure and enjoy life much more.

There are more movies being made now than ever. If you can't find the kinds you like it's on you. Don't be like the whiny tools who bitch music just ain't what it used to while refusing to do anything other than listen to the radio to find new stuff.

I personally don't know why he said the 40s and 80s. The 30s and 70s were far superior decades for film, and the 90s were pretty damn good, too. Most film historians regard the 80s with mixed feelings.

Where are the dramas?

Where is the Rocky (the original drama - love story Rocky, not Rocky 80's movie IV.)

Jaws, Taxi Driver, One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, Chinatown, Godfather, A Clockwork Orange, Deer Hunter, The Sting, Deliverance, The Conversation, Marathon Man, The French Connection, Mean Streets, Dog Day Afternoon, Badlands, Barry Lyndon, etc.

These movies probably don't get made today.

Action movies do better overseas bc the language barrier isn’t as big of a deal compared to comedy or drama. Easier to make money with action.

Plus there is so much good content out there with streaming services, it takes a lot to get me out the comfort of my flat screen to go to movies. But for the blockbuster action flicks, I will go bc I enjoy IMAX with the big screen and top notch sound

Do you think that was some sort of boom moment?

Sorry it wasn't. There were shitty remakes in the 80s just like there are shitty remakes now. There were tons of cookie cutter derivative movies. There were plenty of sequels. Often the sequels in the 80s were damn near the exact same movie which makes it hilarious that you brought up Ghostbusters when GB2 is the same damn movie with nearly the exact same jokes. Boo hoo. You didn't like the remake. Life goes on. Plenty of people in the 80s though The Thing was a POS remake too. Why are they wrong and you right?

You're give me something new makes little sense b/c there is plenty of new stuff. If you aren't seeing it you simply are not seeking it out. That's on you.
