I also hope they can capture the TNG feel. That show was able to tackle tough issues in a way that wasn’t hamfisted or saccharine. Unlike shows these days.

I thought The Orville did it pretty well. Not at the level of TNG but if they can recreate that....make it so.

Agree 100%. I was very surprised at how well the Orville treaded that fine line between making relevant social commentary and ham-fisted political screeching considering the way the show was marketed as some kind of over-the-top comedy spoof like "Galaxy Quest". Instead, we got a TNG-esque drama series with dick jokes, and that turned out to actually be pretty cool.

It is for that reason that I periodically update my physical appearance, so that I do not appear chronologically stagnant to my friends and crewmates."

Kind of hard since they killed him. B4 was some bullshite and it isn't Data. If they bring back B4 as Data, I won't watch a minute of the show.

If we find out they received signals from a positronic brain years after the events from Nemesis and found enough of Data to patch him up, then I will watch. Nothing pissed me off more than the cast of Enterprise acting like their toaster broke when Data died.

They could pull a Grand Moff Tarkin with his face, but doubt they'd do that for a TV show budget.

I'd forgotten that this had happened. But I try to forget about most of the Next Generation movies.

As much as those movies sucked, this had to be the worst part.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but hadn’t Data uploaded his positronic signature to B4 prior to his death? I’ve got to confess I’ve seen Nemesis maybe 2 times so i don’t exactly remember. But I do remember thinking it was a lame mind meld copy from WoK.

I’d be up for a Captain Worf appearance.

Michael Dorn wants Worf to get his own show.

Perhaps a Sisko appearance to learn what the worm hole aliens wanted him to do in the future that was so important.

I bet that's why they kept calling him "Ambassador".

Picard should have been with Vash. They both have a love for anthropology.

B4 whistles a tune that data was practicing early in the movie.

B4 didn't have a positronic brain. He wasn't advanced as Data. Even if Data loaded his memories into B4, he would be a Simple Jack version.

Plus, if we know anything about Data, he would never upload himself and copy his memories over B4's memories. That would be the equivalent of possession.

The way they reacted to his death was the worst part of a terrible movie destroyed by Patrick Stewart because he thought the initial script made Piccard look bad.

+1 Sisko was the least shite-taking of all the Captains thus far.

What did Stewart have changed from the original script?

In the original script the bad guy wasn't a clone. He was the bastard son of Piccard and felt abandoned / betrayed by Piccard. Piccard had no idea he had a son.

The movie as it is, makes zero sense. He was a clone of Piccard. His mother was murdered by Romulans. He was a slave of the Romulans. Why was his motivation to destroy the Federation and Earth? As a clone, it makes no sense at all. Capturing Piccard to use him to stay alive, sure that makes sense. Wanting to wipe out Earth nope. He should want to wipe out the Romulans first. Not Earth and Starfleet.

The original motivation wasn't much better but at least in the original script he felt betrayed by Piccard and thus Starfleet.

They rehashed the exact same garbage with the last movie. Lost on a planet known to be in an unstable area of space but wants to destroy the Federation for abandoning him in an uncharted area of space sure. Only thing worse than that motivation would be to have a deus ex machina that destroys all the bad guys with music... oh wait...

I'll give a very slight edge to Kirk on the tactical.

But strategy and long game was Picard and he basically had a Kirk or two on call.
