Pretty sure this is a misunderstanding that Segel's people have already denied.

If it's number 3, I'm done with the show immediately.

That's not actually possible, Marshall has been alone with lots of different characters for that to be true

I can only vaguely remember what last season's ending was about and I'm still mad about it. Man.

Haven't watched the show for several seasons. It became very weak after a strong beginning. Not to mention the over saturation of reruns on other networks...

I'm just shocked it's lasted this long. I remember thinking it would obe a great little four season show when it premiered. Now it's double that. I agree with earlier; it has gotten stale.

Ted may be annoying, but he's not a douche

The only surprising thing about this announcement is that there's possibly going to be a season 9. Season 8 should reveal the mother, end the series and set up a destined to fail Barney Stinson spin off.

I have never seen an episode, but I think Segal is pretty funny and Doogie Howser has been in some things I have enjoyed, such as Dr. Horrible. Is this show worth watching from the beginning? What other show would you liken it to?

Yes. It's actually funnier in the beginning because Doogie Howser plays a hilariously awesome single womanizer. Later in the series they slowly chip away at his singleness and the show is less awesome for it.

I would call it the next generation of Friends. Late 20somethings hang out in apartments and bars discussing the daily events of their lives. It's much better than Friends though, I've always thought Friends was overrated.

Hmm lets see, he over prenunciates everything, corrects everyone all the time, never wants to do fun things, and is a hopeless romantic that all he talks about is getting married yet is the pickiest dater out there and then bitches about not finding the one.

Definition of douche

Guess he is a douche then (according to Wikipedia). It seems it's used alot to describe those qualities, except with malicious intent. My mistake.

Segal's reps have denied this and said there was a misunderstanding in translation, so nothing is confirmed about him leaving just yet. The thread title is misleading. If he does end up leaving though, they need to end it this season. The show would not be the same without him and would suffer as a result just like That 70s Show did.

I would also recommend to those asking to watch from the beginning. The first 6 seasons are on Netflix and it's an easy watch. I'd never watched the show before about 6 months ago and it instantly became one of my all-time favorites.

Yeah, I'm going to have to agree with myself on this one.

If he does plan on leaving, they have a great opportunity to end the show after this season. The last thing they need to do is limp on like The Office has since Carrell left.
