Really good video of Ahmed Best. The hate led him to almost jumping off the Brooklyn bridge. 20 years later he returned to that very spot with his son. I have nothing against the guy. He did was he was directed to do. He didn't write the script.

That’s fricking sad. I mean I hate Jar Jar too but Jesus Christ people really take this shite too far sometimes. Almost a Steve Bartman 2.0

Jake Lloyd probably got it worse considering he was just a kid. It's clear it has affected him later in life. Both actors were set up to fail. If you watch the making of The Phantom Menace, they show the three finalists for Anakin. One is clearly a better actor but Lucas went for the raw one. The film needed a Haley Joel Osmond actor that could hold his own with adults. It was no fault of Jake's.

Always felt bad for that kid. Ppl who go after actors, especially kids for fictional roles in a damn movie need their asses kicked.

But this jar jar actor has anonymity. Unless he told someone he was jar jar, no one would bother him.

Are there lessons to be learned here?

As much as Phantom Menace was anticipated though, and how much Lucas believed in Jar Jar (oof), I have to imagine that he was trotted around to the media in the weeks leading up to the premier.

HC and NP did more damage than Jar Jar or the kid, IMHO.

The real fault remains Lucas', though. We've all seen Liam Neeson, Portman, etc., act extremely well in other films.

In these? Only really McGregor is even remotely good.

Have you met a Star Wars fan?? Most of them know every actor that played every character. Star Wars fans can be a little critical of Star Wars movies and characters sometimes, but only a little bit

No matter, he's still seeing mention after mention of how his character ruined the biggest movie franchise of its day. Even if they're not saying his name, they're saying that he ruined something that they all loved.

That's total directing...you have to instruct the actors to act wooden and dispassionate. I still to this day have no idea what Lucas was aiming for and why he thought it was a good idea.

The fireworks between Leia and Han is what makes Empire the best in the series. (The one movie Lucas had the least input.)

But no, Lucas thought, in the future everyone will be emotionless and robotic-like spouting off shitty dialogue like an automaton.

In the prequels I just wanted Sam Jackson to just once scream in a council meeting..."yes they deserve to die! And I hope they burn in hell motherfricker!"

Not the kid’s fault. I’ve long maintained that Phantom Menace was written with the intent of having Anakin be around 16 years old. But, at some point, Lucas apparently decided that a 6-year-old actor would allow him to connect with kids better and therefore allow him to sell more toys, and so he cast Lloyd in the role without rewriting the script in the slightest. The end result is both bizarre and uncomfortable.

And that was stupid storytelling. The first "prequel" should have been OBI WAN'S STORY. Maybe not a full bio, but a key moment in his career. The teaser should be some reference in the 3rd act to some disturbance in the force on some backwater that needs to be investigated, but the Jedi go, "Ain't nobody got time for that" - then get through what they're getting working on.

The SECOND movie should have been finding a teen aged Anakin, and the start of the Clone Wars.

Third movie should have been been the end of the Clone Wars and the aftermath of that with Anakin becoming Vader.

That's an arc - Obi Wan protagonist, Palpatine antagonist, and Vader is the object. The protagonist loses the ultimate object in this case, but we already knew the broad strokes.

At least tell an interesting story along the way. They just punted that obvious, easy plan in favor of all toys, all the time.

Just awful...

Well, last Jedi definitely should have taken the heat off him.

I'd have taken a Jar Jar standalone over TLJ.

What the film really needed was a real screen writer and director that could have made a good movie

He was probably also abused by hollywood pedos like most child actors are.

This is why I refuse to go see movies, you are supporting pedophilia

If George or Rian made this video, would you be sympathetic or would you feel that it was self inflicted unlike with the actors?

Damn. Looks like a real life before and after of Anakin/Vader. Might have been a better Older Anakin!
