Makes me wonder how any abandoned baby is legally adopted?
I doubt any legal body investigates immigration status or national origin.
If determined to be abandoned, no one claims the baby, and there are no hospital records, abandoned babies can be legally adopted. They become US citizens.
Babies don’t immigrate, they are transported. Immigrating is not their decision.
Superman is a US citizen.
Any other superhero mysteries I can help solve?

Checks out.
Is he an illegal alien? Naw.
If i drop a newborn baby inside a firehouse, did the kid commit a B&E or trespassing?

Does being an immigrant require making a conscious decision?
The definition in the Oxford dictionary is "a person who comes to live permanently in a foreign country."
You could do this without being aware of it. Are you still an immigrant?

Apparently James Gunn is kind of dumb.
Clark Kent (Kal-El) is a refugee and not an immigrant.

He was thrown here, essentially.
Again, if I throw you across the border of a country. . .are you an immigrant? Legal or otherwise?

No, because you are missing half the requirement of being an immigrant. Comes to live permanently in a foreign country. Just throwing someone across doesnt guarantee them permanent residency. If you throw someone across and a family adopts them and they live here the rest of their life yes they are an immigrant.

No, his planet was destroyed. He meets every criteria of being a refugee.
Refugee status and immigrant status are two distinctly different worlds.

Sure, but so?
I said he is an immigrant, technically.
Not by choice, akin to a trafficked person into a foreign country
Legally, though, intent matters. Legally he would be considered like an unwilling refugee or a trafficked person.
He was never an illegal immigrant, and was immediately adopted and made a legal citizen.

See your definition of immigrant requires choice, whereas Oxford's doesnt.
So either answer is right depending which definition you use.

Because immigration is not just a word, but also a legal/political distinction

Nah, he was an unaccompanied Kryptonian anchor baby. Nothing legal about adopting some undocumented scamp who crash lands in your cornfield. No birth certificate, no SSN, nothing. Rumor is he let his stepdad die. ICE is waiting at the FoS.

Of course. But the director coming out and saying "Herp derp, it's political, immigrants good, red states are big fat meanies," is pretty dumb. Can we get a movie without all of the nonsense, for once?

anyone old enough to remember the forth installment of the original chris reeve superman?
"superman IV the quest for peace" it was at the it was at the height of the no nukes movement and it portrayed the US and the soviet union as both part of the problem and it bombed big time superman was going to confiscate everyone's nukes and force world peace. it stunk up the place and bombed big time killing the franchise in 1987. the next superman wouldn't be made until 29 years later.

They think "people want leftist tripe"
Moviegoers are like "nope"
When the movie fails, they think "we just need to go harder, they really want this!"
The ones that constantly defend that stuff on this board want it. . .they just realize there aren't enough of them to float a blockbuster. . .or a major streaming product.
See The Acolyte, Snow White, Captain America:BNW, etc.
