I have zero interest in this

However I'm sure they know people will spend money to see cool visual shite, so more power to them.

Can't say it will bomb. Everything can make money now.

Fast Furious 10? for example

Hell Disney still wants to do Pirate movies

Not saying it would bomb either, but those franchises have cult followings that are invested in the storylines. No one gives a shite about the Avatar stories. They just saw it because it was awesome to see in 3D

Come on man, what heck are the storylines for the pirates, transformers, and F&F movies?.

Plot synopsis:
Pirates = Sixth Sense + Hook
Transformers = Armageddon + Voltron
F&F = Bullit - Driving Miss Daisy

Plot just isn't the explanation.

You know the point I was trying to make

People think 3D and cool visual effects when they think avatar. No one that I've came across really cared about the actual story

I'm sure it will still make money tho

Yeah, I understand your point but I think it is wrong.

The competency of movie plot just doesn't seem to drive film success or failure. Complex, novel, or interesting storytelling and character development are rarities among blockbuster films.

I just want to say that there is way too much hate for the Fast and the Furious movies in this thread.

I agree. Maybe I worded it wrong and shouldn't have necessarily used plot or storyline

People like transformers, like a lot of comic/super hero movies, because they had them as kids or read the comics when younger and they played a big part in your childhood

People like fast and furious for the crazy cars and ridiculous action/stunts. And in this case the cult fans do care about the characters and plot

People liked Avatar because of 3D and CGI And it was the first movie to really do it on that level

This isn't the dumbest thing you've posted on this site. It's not even close really.

Just trying to illustrate just how shitty you are as a poster.

If people reply to you with the same arguments, you have to post the same responses.

I'm sure this has zero to do with the new Avatar Land being built in Disney World devoted to all things Avatar. Cheap blue plushies have to made in the billions by the Chinese and they don't make themselves for free. #bluefuzzynipples

i don't understand the circlejerk of hate for this movie.

I agree the story and characters were pretty average but it was one hell of a visual and cinematic experience.

I was bored after 45 minutes and had a headache. Not kidding.

Why are people acting like James Cameron isn't a great director

Because he's not? I mean, he can put spectacle onscreen, but that's pretty much it.

The movie was horrible.

Having said that, I was one of the knuckleheads mesmerized by the shiny 3-D.

But even though I was blown away by the 3-D, the story was horrible. It wasn't just that it was a retelling of an old story. It was a poorly executed retelling of an old story.

Every character was almost a caricature of the old regular cliched archetypes.

Then for no reason, we have people jumping sides even though they know they have zero chance of surviving.

Not to mention early in the movie, arrows bounce off of glass windows and in the final battle the same weapons now have the destructive power of Starship Trooper mini-nukes.

Don't get me started on unobtainium. I want to punch the Giovanni Ribisi in the face every time he said that ridiculous word.

Avatar's story, while competent and having a distinct three part narrative, was basic and cliche. Honestly, that movie didn't need a great story nor should it have had an epic plot because the spectacle was what it was about. Now, having said that, James Cameron will have to weave together stories that have some intrigue to them because we are about maxed out on the size and scope of what a movie can do for an audience in 3D. I've heard that the sequels would explore the oceans and moons of Pandora. There are so many great adventures and stories he can tell from here. If he does so, I'm sure most will forgive him for what he put forth in the first movie. If it's more of the same, well the diminishing returns will send the message.

And for people saying that no one is clamoring for a sequel, I could say that about Star Wars in 2005 as well and we all saw how that turned out. Fox has $2.7 billion reasons why to at least put out another movie.

Star Wars as a franchise has probably had the biggest influence on pop culture of any other movie there is. People will always want more Star Wars. You cannot compare Star Wars to frickin avatar

I didn't know Pocahontas had four sequels for them to work with.

Why can't he make prequels to Avatar...like a few good Terminator movies?

I wish Seinfeld had been around, I'm sure Elaine's episode would have been Avatar instead of English Patient.
