Agreed. I watched it again a few nights ago and forgot how out of place and terrible Sofia Coppola was.

I haven't seen it since it was originally out in theaters and her horrible acting is pretty much the only memory that I have of this movie.

Don’t watch it.

I actually saw it at the theater when it came out and almost vomited.

If you’ve never seen it, do yourself a favor and don’t.

I feel sorry for her. She wasn't there because of nepotism - she was actually an emergency replacement when Winona Ryder got sick.

What, Hollywood was out of actresses that week?

Horrible compared to 1 and 2. Sofia Coppola is insultingly bad at acting.

Saw at theater. Fell asleep. Guy behind me started snoring so loudly it woke me up.

Yep. She is the only actor to play in all 3 Godfather movies. Her best scene was in the Godfather when she was actually the baby being baptized as Michael's son when all the bosses were being killed by his henchmen.

In Godfather II, she had a cameo as an immigrant girl who was at Ellis Island when young Vito came to the U.S. and not a speaking part.

Then the fiasco of III.

I had never seen it either so watched the new cut. The movie is horrible by all standards, whether it was a standalone or not.

Incest in the Coreleone family is a theme that is never really addressed and basically accepted. The main Vatican stuff is really dumb.

Pacino sounds like Christian Bale's Batman.

They throw a lot of crumbs from 1 & 2 in there to try and make you remember the good times.

There's nothing really redeeming about it at all.

So Pacino, Shire, and Keaton were not in all 3? Got it.

Yeah, major brainfart on my part and misspoke. What I meant to say was Sophia was in all 3 movies, two of them bit parts, one speaking part as an adult.

Obviously Pacino, Shire and Keaton were also in all 3. My bad faux pas.

I like it a lot, but its not anything close to the original two. Sofia Coppola's character is a bother and I always found the incest angle weird lol. I know that inter family marriage was a thing with the real old school mob guys (and still in some villages in the old country) but given how "Americanized" Vito's children were and that running theme it always confused me lol.

I haven't watched it in forever, but I thought the deal was that Vincent was Sonny's bastard spawned from Lucy Mancini's giant gaping wizard sleeve vagina, so they didn't grow up together as family.

Yes but that would still make them cousins, correct?

It’s the equivalence of you having sex with your uncle’s daughter.

Yes, Vincent was Sonny's bastard child via Lucy Mancini.

The really creepy incest plot is only subtextual, but you really do wonder why Connie takes such an attachment to Vincent: Is she drawn to him romantically? Was she drawn to Sonny romantically? I've always thought their relationship was weird and hinted at more family dark secrets.

Correct. I just don't remember how well they knew each other as cousins. Seems like Vincent was still living NY street life and was some cool stranger to her. Maybe I'll suck it up and rewatch.

I just thought Connie was an old childless widow trying to play Mama Bird since she had no husband or kids of her own. Not all that weird.

Though Puzzo had no problem writing about incest in "The Family" (book about the Borgias), but I'm not sure that's what Coppola was going for w/ Connie as a protective sister.

they know of each other but dont know each other much. but they are both very aware they are cousins.

except this is never developed on screen. she just instantly has a relationship with him for no apparent reason other than he's Sonny's bastard. There's nothing more to it.

Honestly, almost all of 3 is pure surface level, which is the exact opposite of 1 & 2.

eta: everyone also knows they are cousins and dont care.

Yeah she's like you haven't seen me in a while and is immediately flirting with him. It's really weird.
