It's certainly a possibility.

As far as acting is concerned? I don't think so.

Of All Time - this includes the future and other planets.

So I doubt it. And even if you limit it to Earth and the present I'd easily say no.

Very good. Sure.

You'll find very little Tom Hanks love on here. Most consider him mediocre to good. Few think he's very good. Fewer still, like me, put him on a tier similar to the best actors ever. I don't know that anyone has argued that he's the greatest ever.

So... not on this board, no. He's good at best. Nevermind that he can do comedy and drama effortlessly, can transform himself and make himself into characters (so many on here place a high emphasis on an actor's ability to "disappear into his character" ), can steal scenes or be subdued, etc. He's only good. At best.

No way. We agree on this RT?

But really it depends on what "GOAT" means. If it means most successful actor of all time, blending big hollywood appeal and audience recognition? Sure, I'll give him that.

If it's like GOAT actor, master class of acting, uh no. Not even in the ballpark. Top 100 or so, maybe.

As a movie star? He's up there.

As an actor? There are a lot of people that I like better than him.

I'm not even sure the field of acting is susceptible to naming a "greatest of all time". It's subjective to a point. Sure, you can break it down into a few rough classes maybe. An I think Tom Hanks would be up there in the top tier. But I'm not sure you can go further than that.

Besides, if was possible to name a GOAT, it would definitely be Robert Duvall.

its hard to pick a GOAT with so many great actors, and so many different genres. For instance, I could say Will Ferrel is the GOAT, but I would be referring to comedy.

Instead of a GOAT, i would put a Hall of Fame and the access to get into would be incredibly difficult. Tom Hanks would get in easily.

Tom Hanks is the Cary Grant of our generation. His movies make money and he rarely ever delivers anything but solid performances, but he is not the best in his craft.

I love Tom Hanks. His Oscar wins were well deserved, and he should have had another for Cast Away. But he is by no means the GOAT.
