He was alright in Season 8 of 24, but the existence of his character was ludicrous. Yea, I'm sure a national security agency would let some probation officer from some podunk town harass one of their employees across the office all day during a terrorism emergency requiring full attention

Some of the names mentioned aren't character actors. Brian Cox has done a little bit of everything, from young William Wallace's uncle in Braveheart to the police captain in Super Troopers

Giamatti and Harris are not character actors. They both play themselves in every movie. That's not a bad thing.
Oldman is a fantastic actor that doesn't get nearly enough credit. He's been a leading man, though.
