You're a fricking retard.
Because I don't think it should be highest rated movie since The Godfather? Interesting.

1917 is the best movie of the year.

this is BY FAR the best movie of the year. Not even close.
Great. Is it the best movie of the last 47 years?

I loved Parasite, so how bad can it be in your noteworthy estimation?

i may be speaking out of my arse, but with all the hype it got and the expectations i had for it, i was honestly a little underwhelmed by 1917. not saying it sucked by any means, just thought it would really blow me away. maybe my expectation were too high.

Based on which metric?

99% of Rotten Tomatoes critics rated it fresh (358 at present). Moreover, the average rating of those is 9.38 out of 10.

To be clear, I'm being somewhat tongue in cheek, but this movie is clearly overrated. I thought it was great...but not THAT great.

I liked 1917, but it's just kind of more-of-the-same as a Best Picture nominee. Plus the "serious" films always get the nod. I want studios to take more chances on original film-making, so I'm hoping Parasite or Jojo Rabbit wins. I like films that combine lots of humor with serious themes.

The word "overrated" has nothing to do with an actual movie, and only to do with the conversation around it. Judge a movie on its own terms. If it's good, who cares what the bad math RT site says? I personally think it's great, but I also don't think it's the best movie in decades. But who cares? I love Bong Joon-ho. I didn't need his newest to be the greatest thing ever to go see it.

And it's not that overrated here, where most of the posters still haven't seen it, and someone had to ask whether it was in English or Korean.

Correct. Which is why I advised that the movie was good but one should temper their expectations which are possibly unreasonably high given the conversation around it.
