One of the few HBO shows I never gave a chance.

Absolutely. Great mythology and atmosphere. It's a shame it ended after Season 2.

They completed the first chapter. I look at it as ending before it sucked.

It’s great. First couple of episodes had me unsure, but after that it’s enthralling. I think it was ahead of its time, the mythology is great and if it aired today i think we’d get the whole story. Stories cut short due to the cancellation, but it still is worth the watch

I really liked it but I'm going to go against the grain here and recommend against it. Some shows that end unexpectedly have loose ends that aren't tied up. The way this one ended, the entire fricking series was still a loose end and none of the million questions you have while watching it will ever be explained. It's like ending a series you like in the middle of a season.

I thought Nick Stahl was going to be a huge star after In the Bedroom and this but he got into drugs and just fell off the face of the planet.

I like it a lot. Cut short and canceled early. It was intended to be a 6 season show with 3 major arcs. It was canceled after 2 seasons, so it got through one arc. That's kind of a complete story, but it also leaves a lot hanging. The creator did release on the internet where he was intending to go with it after it became clear that it wasn't ever going to be able to be finished, so you can read about it after watching what of the series did get made.

Don't know if you ever tried, but you can find the answer to some of those questions if you do a little googling. Might be on wikipedia I think. It's a pretty complex mythology to put together.

Like most have said, it is worth it and you’ll be leaving with a lot of stuff you want to see/find out. But it’s still definitely worth it and is a pretty great ride for two seasons.

With Deadwood being revived via a movie, I’d love to see HBO give Carnivale the same treatment.

Or have Netflix take over and complete it.
