saw it last night and absolutely loved it...my favorite QT movie

Saw it yesterday. It is one of those movies you like hours later when you reflect on what you just saw more than when you walk out of it. Solid 8.5.

That's exactly how I feel about all of Tarantino's movies. His movies always stick with me, something I value in a movie experience.

i have to admit that i was a bit underwhelmed with it. watched it last night, i will watch it again, maybe itll grow on me. had some great scenes like chapter 2. however i was a bit bored with the other chapters

Chapter 2 was the worst chapter (although it was funny ) Most of the trailer came from this chapter. The rest of the chapters were great....great movie....great dialogue , great suspense. I can understand if a 13 year old kid with A.D.D. didnt like it.

Meh.
"Resevoir Dogs" was an inspired first feature, and Tarantino made the most influential movie of the 90's in "Pulp Fiction". "Jackie Brown" was entertaining enough. After that . . . a plummet downhill in my opinion. "Kill Bill"? Narcissistic, adolescent pap trying way too hard to be hip. "Death Proof"? Awful.
The point is I didn't have high hopes for this one. I saw it this afternoon, and I liked it more than I thought I would. In fact, I think there's a decent, fun 90 minute movie in there somewhere. But Tarantino, like a lot of directors, is his own worst enemy when he doesn't use the cutting room enough. The story, of course, is ridiculous, but that would have been perfectly fine if he would have tightened the thing up . . . a lot. Waltz lived up to the hype, although it's not an Oscar winning performance (maybe a nomination). Actually, the first scene of the movie was probably the best written and shot. I like Pitt in character roles, but his accent annoyed the shite out of me. I know it was supposed to be exaggerated, but I found it distracting.
I'll watch it again sometime in the future and re-valuate.

I've give the movie 2 stars. Begining was good. then for the next 2 hours. I'd rather have my fingernails pulled out with pliers. Then the last 30 minutes was good. Pitt is only in the movie for about 45 minutes. Previews made it seem like he was in it for the majority of the movie. Subtitles killed this movie, way too much.
And for the record Kill Bill sucked! The only good movies Tarentino has been invloved with to this point is Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown and True Romance.
I'm sorry that Tarantino forgot to dumb down the movie for people, like yourself, who don't like to read.
And its called Marketing you idiot.

If I wanted to read, I would have gotten the book version.
Then in that case, its unlikely you would ever go through with reading the novel (gasp reading!)

This is the problem i have with Tarantino fans, they think they are far superior to anyone who doesn't like his movies. For the record, I loved Inglorious Basterds and Pulp Fiction, but don't care for movies like Kill Bill or Death Proof. Just because someone didn't like this movie doesn't mean they are dumb.

Kill Bill sucked fwiw.
Inglourious Basterds might be a top 10 movie for me.

The way Tarantino went out of his way to compare blacks to King Kong.
OK, so it was fine for the Nazis to do Jew jokes and do mass executions of them, but any other races they clearly see themselves superior to its not ok?

The fact that they had Hitler die (and get shot) in a fire which wasn't true.
....OK, you thought that this was going to be based on actual events? This is like getting mad at Watchmen or District 9 since it actually never happened. Its an alternate history film. This was well known well before the first trailer came out.

Pitt talked liked Benjamin Button
Pitt's character was a perfect contrast to Waltz's Landa. They were perfect counterpoints to one another.

the plot sucked
Did you do absolutely any research going into this film? The basic plot was very, very well known before hand.

acting was mediocre..
You're just being a pure troll at this point. Besides Pitt (which wasn't a bad performance at all), name one bad performance in this film.

The Basterds are just comic relief, really.
Agreed. If you can see this, then you love the movie. If you can't, you'll hate it.

As for my thoughts: This is probably my favorite film since "There Will Be Blood". Great acting, fantastic suspense, great dialog, great characters, awesome and hilarious violence, Nazis being burned alive, and Hitler getting shot in the fricking face. What else can I ask of a film?

Kill Bill was alright. I don't classify myself as a Tarantino fanatic, but I do appreciate his works.

saw last night, Landa was awesome to watch and Pitt gave the movie what it needed, laughter

Saw it Friday night. Thought it was pretty good after I left the theater. Been thinking about it for two days now, and it has marinated into quite a good impression with me. Like many have said, the opening scene and the bar scene were amazing. Right up there with great scenes from Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction. Pitt was great comic relief. The ending was awesome. Once again, the music matched the scenes perfectly. Wife downloaded the soundtrack today, and I've been listening to it all afternoon.
Can't wait to get the Blu-Ray when it finally comes out.

If Waltz doesn't win an Oscar then the awards should not be given out anymore.

The only time the movie was any good was when Brad Pitt was in the scenes... Boring IMO... Although I'm not really a QT fan...
