i would rate this movie as barely enjoyable. Probably would recommend others just wait for dvd.

Mainly i think the unfamiliarity with many of the characters that spoke in different languages hurt the movie. Not because subtitles and foreign languages are bad, but the dialgoue wasn't nearly as strong as movies like pulp and resivoir.

what is up with people not wanting to read subtitles? Laziness I guess. I couldnt even make it through Valkyrie because none of the germans in that movie spoke in german, and Tom Cruise spoke in perfect american english for God's sake. Inglorious Basterds rocked. movie rocked. The only problem I had was that in the original script, QT includes a pretty detailed backstory of Shosanna and her relationship with the original theatre owner before she died(who she refers to as her "aunt.") But whatever, I guess it was already long enough.

Great movie! Crazy dialogue but very enjoyable. There were many parts that just built up the action so well. Definitely recommended.

The german detective was one of the best characters I've seen on screen. He was genuinely creepy and sophisticated and pretty damn funny at times.

And to the post above..

No, it isn't a remake. I rented that movie the other night from Redbox. It isn't worth anyone's time. It still has to deal with fighting nazi's but it is a bunch of army rejects who when being taken to court are ambushed and get away and then go on their own mission to get to switzerland I think. A few funny parts but not that great. The interview between tarantino and the director of that movie was pretty interesting though.

Just got back and the film FAR exceeded my expectations. Quentin has made a masterpiece and if Christoph Waltz doesn't win an Oscar it will be an out rage. Not a big Pitt fan by the way but I really enjoyed his performance too.

Never been so entertained watching people being shot and burned alive. And the close up with Hitler's face being deformed from taking about a hundred rounds to the face was movie magic

It was good. It's not great, but it was fun and like watching a live action cartoon, only with profanity and lots of violence.

I didn't really care about any of the characters, but I certainly had a good time.

Yea he was although not for long. The audience started laughing right when they showed a shot of his character.

+1 Even though the character didn't do anything funny.

I guess their first thought was: "LOL AUSTIN POWERS IS IN THIS MOVIE!"

Too bad that action-movie hacks like Michael Bay have conditioned audiences into believing humans are incapable of uttering more than one or two sentences between CGI'd assaults. In Tarantino environs, talk is as deadly as literal crossfire. When arch-villain Landa wages war by bouncing handily about in four languages, speaking German with the wrong accent or butchering Italian

I disagree completely. Its contrived and comes off as trying to hard. Its the writers equivalent of over-acting. Its over writing.

Mike did fine and could be a serious actor if he wanted to imo.

SPOILERS APLENTY

I’m somewhere in the middle on this. I loved the scene with the Major in the bar, as he tried to pin down the accent of the British agent. Every word was tense because he was slowly giving himself away, and his eventual slip up was subtle yet obvious. It was a good scene.

The shootout that ensued was fun to watch, but upon a moment’s reflection, it made no sense whatsoever. Why were the soldiers on leave carrying their rifles? Were the rifles even there earlier in the scene? And how did a bunch of obviously drunk soldiers draw their guns and fire with any sort of accuracy so quickly? Three basterds plus the bartender plus the waitress… four of whom knew what was about the occur… they should not have sustained such heavy casualties. It makes no sense. They would have slaughtered that table of Germans.

But it looked real friggin cool. And then again, most of the absurd casualties worked the other way around.

The fact that Armond White gave it a rotten review only increases my like for this movie.

It was good, there were some slow moments but overall I liked it. I liked the fact that Tarantino used subtitles, I didn't like Valkayrie because it didn't use subtitles. Subtitles=realism
