But even if they got it off, what then? I guess Strange could have teleported it somewhere else, but that’s it. I think the only Avenger who could possibly use it is Thor.

Well, everyone there except Spiderman knows Thor and has talked with him. The Guardians know he's with Rocket, so they should be able to meet back up with him (this assumes they would have any intention of rejoining Rocket and Groot, which I would expect to be the case).
They also seem to know where the Gauntlet was forged, and by whom (or know that Thor does).

They also have experience using the Power Stone (?) when they destroyed Ronan.

Dr Strange seemed as knowledgeable as the Collector, gave basically the same speech about the Stones... and he knows how to use the Time Stone.

Stark helped integrate the Mind Stone into Vision, so he's fiddled around with them a fair amount.

You have 3 guys with enough physical strength (Spiderman, Drax and Iron Man) to tote it to the ship pretty easily. You have Dr Strange quite able to drop a sleepy Thanos into a bottomless fall (ala Loki) to buy time to get to the ship.

point being, that was probably the most competent group in the galaxy (short of Thor actually being with them) to take the Gauntlet and try to do something with it.

That’s null and void now since Star Lord no longer has the powers of a Celestial. I thought he might be able to use the Gauntlet, but I remember he lost his immortality when he killed his father.

Can't use it maybe, but they definitely have enough firsthand experience to say "hey, don't touch any of the Stones, especially that purple one". They know what it does.

Not talking about wielding it, per se.

Another underrated scene, Bucky picking up Rocket and swinging him around made me lose my shite. I was going nuts

Someone posted it earlier in the thread, but Thor's character arc from the first 2 to Ragnarok and now Infinity War is amazing.

Hemsworth also had the best performance in Infinity War, along with Thanos.

About to see it for the second time.

I bought tonight’s ticket a week ago and got impatient yesterday and went ahead and bought another.

I loved how Thor kept referring to Rocket affectionately as “Sweet Rabbit”. It’s a shame how they didn’t realize Chris Hemsworth comedic timing from the start, because it would have made for the first two Thor and Avengers movies much funnier.

As soon as they shot this scene (the only one where Thor is funny), they should have completely rewritten the script or allowed Hemsworth to improvise as he wished. In fact it wouldn’t surprise me if Hemsworth slamming the cup was improvised by him, and they decided to keep it in: LINK

I’m fine with that misdirection from the studios and actually prefer it in certain situations. The Blade Runner 2049 previews actively lied to the audience what the movie was. All it really revealed is that Harrison Ford was in the movie, said that he was the key to it, when he’s actually a side note in it.

So long as you’re sitting on something fantastic, then misdirection in marketing is preferable. But if you’re sitting on shite like Age of Ultron and Iron Man 3, then I get pissed off. You’re playing with fire when you do it, but done right, I’m incredibly grateful to the marketing team.

Killing his army. He can’t sense where Thanos is.

I know it wouldn't really fit but I would've soiled myself if they played Immigration Song when Thor showed up

Also liked Thanos was a different villain, it wasn’t the same old terraforming earth or whatever. You actually sort of empathized with him, he doesn’t see himself as a bad guy at all really
