I've watched these on YouTube. It is interesting to see how uncomfortable athletes back then seemed to be on television compared to the ones today.

I wonder what ballpark the series was filmed at?

I used to love that show, it used to be rerun back about 30 years ago or so. It seemed that every single time a player was asked about his opponent, the response would inevitably be "I hear he is a real long ball hitter"...EVERY SINGLE TIME!

yes indeed! I haven't thought about that show in a long long time, but I watched every time it was on.

I loved that show when it ran in the 80s. It was at the height of the baseball card craze, and it brought a real connection to these guys who played long before I was born.

Wrigley Field in Los Angeles: HR Derby

Scott noted that Wrigley Field in Los Angeles was chosen to host the event because its fence distances were symmetrical, favoring neither right-handed nor left-handed hitters.

Actually was lucky enough to meet the say hey kid after a flight from SFO to DFW about 6 years ago. He was already in his seat up front when I got on. Nobody knew who he was. The guy helping him in his wheelchair didnt know who he was. at first glance looked pretty happy to have someone on the younger side recognize him.

I was super nervous. All I managed to say was that were it not for the polo grounds his godson would still be chasing his HR record. that got a chuckle. Shook his hand and said thanks. Super gracious guy.
