I heard it was good and somehow haven't seen it! Is it worth staying up to watch?

I watched it last night myself.
Decent movie, not great.
Samuel Jackson stole the show imo.

Definitely this. It's good but pretty disappointing for Tarantino.

Best movie last year.

I prefer over Inglorious Basterds as well. (Just my opinion....although IMDB/Rottentomatoes also ranks over it as well)

However, its a Western....So if you're not as keen on Spaghetti Westerns....there are somethings you might find "meh"

Also...Like all Tarantino movies...it gets better with repeated viewings.

Like I've said before, it's a good movie. The first half is great then it bogs down. It's about 20mins too long.

It's good not great. Don't expect an academy award winning script or performances.

Everyone keeps saying this, I don't remember the film ever taking place in "the West"

I don't think it does, although it does pay homage to the Western movie genre

Western is more a style of movie, not necessarily geographical location. Most of True Grit is in Arkansas iirc. Not really "the west".

I get that, but the film felt very much of a "Southern Gothic" tale more than a Western.

Good thing the movie is over 40 mins. It's a great movie. Don't listen to the arse clowns.

I thought it was better than "pretty disappointing for Tarantino", but it definitely wasn't his best. Really good movie IMO.

The bag head scene is awesome.
