If Lord of the Rings was made in current day.

Jenna Ortega wouldn't be the absolute worst thing in the world. But no, she's no Liv Tyler.
I don't know why they showed Arwen twice, instead of Galadriel, but yeah, that's totally how it would go down.

Probably not far from the truth. I agree Jack Black as Gimli would be good.

Jack Black has become a parody of Jack Black.

My first anticipation would be technology and camera capabilities being far superior to the OG film days. Would love the scenic cinematography with today's equipment. I know we all hate on CGI for what it is, but if it's "done right" those battle scenes would be pretty entertaining as well.

Literally everything would be done in front of a green screen. There would be no scenic cinematography to speak of because it would almost all be computer generated.

I guess I meant to say I would have loved to see the same scenic cinematography the OG's had, but with today's equipment. I'd compare it to the quality of footage in those Planet Earth docuseries and the like.
But yes, you're probably right on how Hollywood would do it today with a lot of greenscreen work.

Practical FX have shown to be far superior on screen. The Hobbit trilogy doesn’t compare to the original.

Just want to point out the absurdity of having to watch someone watch that, as opposed to being able to just watch the clip on its own. I hate how everything is driven by "content" now. It's beyond stupid that it's difficult to find actual, original videos of things now and you have to sift through reactions and people watching/commenting on the videos instead of just being able to watch it on your own and make your own judgments.
Anyway, old man rant for the day. Carry on.

Modern Jack Black is a scene chewing hack
You want Movie Claptrap as a serious supporting character?
The answer is no
If I could cast that using popular modern actors:
Frodo= Leo Woodall
Aragorn= Henry Cavill
Galadriel=Amanda Seyfried
Arwen=Anya Taylor Joy
Gandalf=Ian McElhenney
Legolas=Timothy Chalamet
Gimli= Wildcard here with Tommy Flanagan in a far suit
Couple extra:
Boromir=Tom Hardy
Eowyn=Emily Blount
Based totally on people I think can pull it off, and kinda look the part

I was in NZ in early 2012 when they were working on the hobbit movies.
A lot of kiwis already hated the fact back then that the 2nd trilogy was largely green screen in Wellington studios as opposed to a project that originally featured much of the country in LOTR. They largely viewed the first as a source of national pride and the second as “Wellywood.”

Yours is a valid point.
I guess my best response is many wouldn’t have seen it, certainly far less, had people like Asmondgold not reacted to it.
