I'd read the articles, seen the debate, and yada yada yada. Its a Doogie Howser remake, a not great show in its own right. I figured why not watch the first episode to see just how bad, or good, this series was?

First... the good things. It is set in Hawaii and the scenery is gorgeous. The medical stuff isn't complete BS (but nowhere near as good as a show like Scrubs). In a couple of years I'll be able to compliment the lead actress, Peyton Elizabeth Lee, on her looks without getting busted by Chris Hanson.

The Bad... everything else. I had intended to only watch a few minutes but I was drawn in by just how awful this show was. The acting is Disney Channel level. And not the good Disney Channel shows. The writing somehow manages to let the acting down.

Lee, evidently, is a gifted actress but you don't get any glimpses of that here. We go from annoying, to over acting, to wooden all in the span of a minute. It is truly breath taking to see a performance this crappy from a lead actor not named Tommy Wiseau.

Two thumbs down and a sprinkling of holy water to keep this from raising from the dead and feasting on the souls of the unwary. If you find your children watching this unplug the internet and take them to therapy right away.

I just start chuckling at the name alone. I'm waiting on a remake of Tombstone with D'Marcus Earp

So they took the casting of a Disney kids show and just made them in their 20s? It still looks like a dumb Disney kids show.

Who is their target audience?

YA morons?

I'm not watching the remake, but the original show was great. Almost Wonder Years-esque in some ways.

They couldn't even give the main character her own name? Sad!

Yeah, the new Saved by the Bell is pretty terrible. Surprisingly, the new Punky Brewster wasn't bad but it got cancelled.

When I saw that first thread a few days ago I legitimately thought the OP was just fricking around, and made the name up.

Based on the trailer, they call her that because she’s a child doctor. Like the show exists for them, and thats why they call her that.

Anyone who’s seen it, am I wrong?

Without even knowing the sexual orientation of the actors/characters, a lot of boxes got checked with the casting of these 5 roles.

That would make so much sense...if the characters were in their 40s, maybe. Nobody this age is watching tv shows from the late 80s.

The lead is actually the age of the character. 16. I'd cut her some slack based on that... but you can't swing a dead cat without hitting extremely talented actors that age.

This show isnt all bad. I learned native Hawaiians typically have two washing machines, one for the clothes and one to tenderize stuff they catch for dinner.
