I Saw The Light (Hank Williams biopic)

I don't remember seeing this movie discussed much, if at all, when it came out. Just watched it earlier this week and it wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. Hiddleston actually did a pretty good job of playing Hank. His voice is a little too deep, especially when singing, but all in all I liked him in the role.
The movie itself was mediocre. It was much more true to life than the abomination starring George Hamilton. It seemed that the story focused more on the downs in Hank's life and neglected a lot of the higher points and his famous creative side which could churn a whole song out of a simple comment or the simplest of ideas.

Not a good movie.
Should've looped Hank's voice in for the songs.
It followed the Dewey Cox template to a T.

No.
I haven't seen the movie, but I did hear some of the songs. He doesn't sound like Hank Williams at all. That said, I hate lip syncing in movies even more.
If you can't find an actor that sounds close enough, just don't make the movie.

I have heard this movie wasn't very good and that's a shame because it would be interesting to hear Hank's story, plus the fact that he's a frickin legend.

Lou Diamond Phillips lip-synced in La Bamba...that movie worked out.

I tried comparing the movie to Walk The Line, which did a really good job of showing not only Johnny's life-long love of June, but also his career arc from starting with Sun to recording the live album at Folsom, with all of the ups and downs in between.
There are so many things the movie could have included and didn't - like how Hank started playing music and his relationship with Tee-Tot who taught him how to play guitar. And even though the last couple of days of his life were covered fairly recently in The Last Ride, the fact that the movie skips from leaving Montgomery to announcing his death in Canton two days later. There was just so much more that could have been done.

I saw a broadway show about Hank many years ago. It was pretty good.

Hiddleston's talent was wasted in a subpar script and sophomoric direction. This was a great story that was missed.

I was really looking forward to this movie based on the trailer. But after seeing the bad reviews, I haven't even seen it yet. Should probably give it a chance.

And he never paid for drugs. Not even once.
