Because I just got back from seeing The Last Jedi with my eight year old and absolutely loved it. Thought is was great!
ETA: So of course some of my responses on this thread were sarcastic.
But I think a good bit of y'all missed my point.
I was entertained. I thought the visual effects and sound were spectacular. I thought there are some good laughs. I actually enjoyed the movie. I'm not a "Star Wars Geek" so I guess I didn't really care about the other stuff you all seem to be complaing about.
I went and had a good time seeing an entertaining movie with my son. Nothing more

I am actually really glad your 8 year old liked it. Despite what all these dudes say on here, Star Wars is meant to be magical for the children first

I actually thought it was one of the top 5 films I've ever seen. Up there with Goodfellas and Caddyshack for me

Well, when you look at the number of positive threads and comments, as opposed to those that disliked it. Its hard to imagine feeling insecure when surrounded by so many that share the same sensibilities

Probably more insecure to seek approval where you are almost guaranteed to get it.
