I finally got around to watching Severance….

I know it’s been discussed many times on this board, but I avoided those threads because I knew I would get to it eventually….
I’m 3 episodes in…I’m trying real hard to like it, but it’s not really moving the needle so far…should I continue? Does it get better?

Don't stop.
It's 100% worth sticking it out. I liked it early on but I wasn't in love with it. It got better and better as the season went on and the final three episodes are top tier TV. The season finale being one of the better season finales in recent memory imo.
Only reason I'd say drop out is if you don't like weird. It only gets weirder

Its hard for something that is amazing to "get better" so I don't know how to answer that.
But the mysteries do increasingly unfold, in very satisfying ways and the mysteries even deepen more in spots.
One of my favorite season 1s of any show I have ever seen, and after say, episode 4, my wife and I were totally hooked. It takes a lot for my wife to look up from her phone and actually watch a show too.

It's a unique show so I guess it might not for everybody, but try sticking it out. I loved it and everybody I personally know that's watched it has loved it. Even my dad who only watches network TV cop shows.

Seriously, it may not be for you, but it’s only one season so far with only 9 episodes, it’s not some huge time sink. Do with that as you will.
Btw, I started my response the way I did because these topics are usually terrible. “I know the board loves this show almost unanimously, but I watched some and don’t get it. Does it get better? Should I watch more?”

If you don't like it now then you never will. It's probably best to move on. It's not a show for everyone, but it is very good for those who like it. I really enjoyed it, but I understand others who don't.

For me, "Severance" was good weird. Bad weird includes "The Lobster" and "The Killing of a Sacred Deer".

Gets much better. After a couple episodes I thought it was ok. Thought it was quite good by end of season.

I was in the same spot when I watched it. Kept thinking "what is this??"
Then the last two episodes happened and now I'm excited for season 2.

All of this. Drives me fricking crazy.

Hats off to the OP for atleast giving it 3 episodes
ive seen guys on here that will post after 20 minutes into the first episode of the wire like “uhh guys I’m not getting”
Even better those guys will typically ignore or dismiss any response until someone comes in who didn’t like it and they’ll go “ahh see! Glad I asked, going to stop watching now” so it’s just them looking for someone to confirm their own feelings about a show, more than asking an actual opinion about the show.

Wow…pretty passionate responses here…some of you seem really devoted to the Lumon brand. A few Mr. Milchik’s here. Maybe you are integrated…I should have know I couldn’t ask a simple question on this site without world class a-hole-ry revealed.

Without spoiling anything, wait until you get to this scene:

These people are stupid. What’s there to get? It’s an onion, and every episode, a layer of the onion is peeled back.
If you don’t get the suspense of knowing why a company implants a switch in their employees brain and what these employees are actually doing, then why are you watching television to begin with?
ETA: it’s probably the most original idea that’s come out recently. And it comes from Ben Stiller of all people.

1) OP just confirmed what WTC expected his response would be.
2) To your point, people that bitch about unoriginal Hollywood writers and ideas should have nothing but praise for this show.

For the select few that dislike it, they can’t give one specific reason why.
