The most annoying part of the ads to me is that they are just inserted randomly into the show. For example, the commercial might occur during the middle of sentence.

I've had Hulu ad free for a while now and I honestly cant remember the last time I saw an ad.

There used to be a few shows that "due to contractual reasons" would still have a couple in there but those were always on episodes of shows that were from a current season that was still airing.

Checking their help site the only show that still has ads once it's up for streaming is the current season of Grey's Anatomy.

From their help site

Excluded shows

Due to streaming rights, there are a select number of shows from our streaming library that will play with a short ad break before and after each episode for Hulu (No Ads) subscribers — view the full list of excluded shows here.* LINK

*List of excluded shows is subject to change.

Network on-demand

Hulu (No Ads) subscribers can stream everything in the Hulu streaming library without ad breaks (excluding the shows outlined above). If you’re a Hulu (No Ads) + Live TV subscriber, however, your subscription includes lots of extra on-demand shows and movies that are provided by our network partners that may have ads — this content is not part of our library.

There isn’t a way to identify which episodes or movies will have ads while you're browsing, but if you have ideas on how we can improve this experience submit them in the Hulu Community or vote for others to help them get noticed.

Cloud DVR recordings

Cloud DVR recordings will have the same ad breaks that you’d see during the live broadcast. If you want to fast forward through the ad breaks, you’ll need to upgrade to the Enhanced Cloud DVR — learn how to manage your add-ons here.

Live TV

When you’re watching live TV on Hulu, you’ll still run into the same ad breaks as everyone who hasn’t cut the cord yet.

Premium and Partner Add-ons

Shows and movies from HBO, SHOWTIME, Cinemax, and STARZ don’t have ad breaks, but there may be promotional content before certain videos. These promos are meant to showcase other premium content that comes with the add-on.

Certain content available through the ESPN+ Add-on may include ads.

Then you werent watching Hulu no ads....because Hulu no ads...has no ads

It depends. Prior to my mistake of switching to Hulu ads I couldn't tell you the last time I saw an ad under my Hulu no ads version and I watched it for hours every day. There are specific shows that apparently have contractual obligations to show ads, even under the no ad plan, but nothing I ever watched.
