For someone that pretends to care about honor, Criston Cole sure does like to kill people for no reason

While the killing may not seem justified it definitely wasn’t for no reason. Lord Beesbury made it clear he supported the Black party and even went so far as to accuse everyone present of regicide. He spoke recklessly and was doomed to die at that point.

Not sure what you are trying to say. They definitely didn’t show much with the twins and are relatively new characters.
Also having Otto and Alicent both on a chase for Aegon leading to a sword fight was silly. Both of them wishes to install him as king ASAP. Their only difference was Otto wanted to murder everyone else and allicent did not

He was shocked he actually killed Beesbury. He just meant to slam him down, though I agree with you.

Whoever has physical possession of the king has a lot of power especially if the king has not yet been installed and is relatively weak when it comes to politics. There are absolutely real life examples that demonstrate this. Alicient was set aside from her father the moment she realized that he had a succession plan that didn’t involve her at all. She needed to get control of her son with a person who was as loyal to her.

Yes but Aegon likes his mom more than the hand. And Alicent has more power than the hand. Him getting to her son before her and still putting him as king the next day isn’t going to change a lifetime of Aegons loyalties.
And even though Alicent gets to him first he is still keeping Otto as hand. It’s really not changing much. Otto can still send mercenaries to kill rhay and daemon without Alicent or Aegon. They’ve obviously been plotting and planning behind their back for years. No need to change now

think showing a deliberate murder would have been more impactful than an instant death table slam.
I agree. They also made a big show about the little balls but I don't remember those being used in prior small council meetings. At least not when Viserys was still holding them.
**What becomes of the Lord Commander of the White Cloaks? Will they kill him before he can get out of Kings Landing?

What is the deal with the balls? Do you have to pick your ball up to talk? Some larger meaning?
Posted on 10/17/22 at 9:17 pm to RonLaFlamme
Pretty sure they are just attendance markers.
There is a bowl with the marbles of council members absent.
I imagine Bobby B took the crown and attended the first couple of small council meetings, said frick the marbles, and the council just shrugged.

That’s cause Varys doesn’t have balls…..duh

Meant King Viserys. You're right though Varys was lackin

Ah got ya.
No I’ve been wondering about the balls all season. They’ve had them the whole time. Definitely been a curiosity for me.

She just killed a bunch of innocent people who were essentially corralled and forced to be there just so she could mean mug Alicient?
I’m not sure why this point is bothering people so much. Outside of maybe the Starks in some instances (and Edmure in the books) when do highborn families give a shite about killing some no name lowborns? Particularly during times of war against one another.
A highborn should be queen wouldn’t think twice about some low born collateral damage if it meant escaping with her dragon.
ETA: Tyrion and the Tyrells recognized at least trying to do things to make them popular or at the very least not turn on them. But that had nothing to do with actually valuing their low born lives. Otherwise, many high borns show damn near contempt for their low born counterparts.

I took it as Cole wanted to be the one to bring him in and deceived Aemon. Cole is power hungry for Alicent

Guess I've just missed it until last episode. Details like this make the show appealing. I can keep rewatching and pick up on nuances

So are we sure those kids in the death match were a bunch of aegons bastards?
Posted on 10/17/22 at 10:24 pm to BomBayTiger
They were all blonde but only the boy sitting in the holding pen struck me as a ringer for Aegon bastard

Loved the episode overall but I agree with others that the Rhaenys scene at the end was kind of silly. She just killed a bunch of innocent people who were essentially corralled and forced to be there just so she could mean mug Alicient? Now everything that happens from here on out to both herself and her family she only has herself to blame as she could have ended the war with a single word.
As if she cares about the peasants there. She wanted to ruin their party, show her strength, show they failed in keeping her locked up & quiet, and make a grand exit. She wanted them to know they didn’t already win as she is still free with her dragon.
It’s not silly at all to understand her thinking. Obviously you can disagree with her choice to not roast them all, but this was par for the course for people showing some mercy and later regretting it.
If everyone made the correct choice at every step, it would be a very boring show

Will read the entire thread in due time.
Why didn't she just roast them all when she had the chance?
