I enjoyed it.

Crazy that the riff from Life in The Fast Lane was just something Joe Walsh used to warm up before a show.

I want to watch this one, but every time I see that it's about three hours long I end up watching something else.

Just watch the first half of it. There is a clean break in the middle where you can stop watching and not really miss anything.

lvied/listened to the eagles all thru their glory years, even plunked down hard earned money to purchase albums.

So even though you hated them you kept buying their records?

Great doc. Its long, but it goes by fast because its so good. I don't even love the Eagles, but I liked them more after watching this doc.

There has to be a special place in heaven for Randy Meisner for not punching Glenn Frey in the face.

Bernie Leadon, Randy Meisner, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, and Don Felder all appear to be amiable guys.

Henley and Frey were a couple douches.

It's peaceful and easy to like the Eagles' music.

I enjoyed the Lynyrd Skynyrd documentary more.

Love the story about "take it to the limit"....

I'd hate to pull that off every night too.

I was warm at best on them when I first started listening and buying. THey turned down horrible lane in the last decade and a half. Plus the chicks dug them so you do what you do to get into their dew.

One of the high marks of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame moments was Timothy B. Schmit publicly thanking Randy Meisner for his career. Meisner beat out Schmit for the Poco job in part because Schmit had run out of deferments and could've been called to up to go to Vietnam at any moment. It's no wonder that Schmit jumped at the chance to take Meisner's place in Poco and The Eagles.

FYI: Schmit's wife is the spaced out blonde fan in Spinal Tap.

I always thought he was gay. Not that there's anything wrong with it.

I came away with the impression that Frey was the king douche of the band.

Like a couple of others have already posted, I am not a huge Eagles fan but after watching this I was more into their music than I was before. I also loved that story behind "Take It to the Limit"

agree with a lot of everything said here. Frey deserved a butt kicking rom quite a few of those guys.

Another one worth watching is the TP and The Heartbreakers doc "Running Down a Dream".. Just fabulous.

Yea, Frey and Henley are dicks. Many leaders in any sort of productive enterprise are.
They worked their rears off writing music and putting everything together and it takes discipline to keep it going.

I tend to agree with you. They were alphas that were mostly responsible for making the band one of the most successful in history. Of course their egos were big, and that was a big contributor to their success.

Don Felder it seems just couldn't put up with Frey's bs. Surprised he didn't bust him one. Sad that they ran him off because that dude could play the guitar. Damn he was just so smooth. Really changed their style when he and Walsh joined up.

I'm curious if anyone here has seen Don Felder live. I know this is probably better suited for the music board at this point, but here was his last setlist that he performed this summer:

Already Gone
One of these nights
Pride and Joy
Victim of Love
Peaceful Easy Feeling
Tequila Sunrise
Seven Bridges Road
Those Shoes
Girls in Black
Heavy Metal (takin a ride)
Witchy Woman
The Long Run
Heartache Tonight
Life in the Fast Lane
Take it Easy
Hotel California

So 13/16 songs are Eagles songs, and it sounds like he is getting to have a bit of fun with their music without having to deal with the bullshite of Henley and Frey. I saw a clip of him singing a while back and he almost has this Tom Petty thing going on with his voice. It would be interesting to hear those vocals with the Eagles songs.

Anyone know what the criteria is for being able to use songs from your former band in a solo live show? Since he wasn't a member at the time when songs like Take it Easy were written, I was surprised to see that on his setlist.
