That was a great twist. I didn’t see it coming. This season has been a great mix of drama and comedy. They will take it really dark and serious and then hit you with an absurd moment, but it never feels out of place.

That’s the first ending in awhile that legitimately made me go “WHAT?!”
Yea I am going to have to rewatch tonight, I wasn't fully paying attention after drinking during GOT. I remember that some of the character development was great, like Sally finally facing up to her some of her bullshite. The ending was out of left field and I'm not sure I buy it. I guess he has been shown as depressed mf the whole show though.

Post from texags. It is by a guy that I believe works in Hollywood and has a lot of connections.

Just FYI, a bunch of critics have already seen next week's episode - episode five - and so many of them are RAVING about it. Apparently it's pretty special. Combined with The Battle of Winterfell episode of Game of Thrones, HBO is looking to have pretty big night come Sunday.

I’m just going to repeat myself every week but this show is so fricking good.
Best on TV right now, hands down.

Who knew Bill Hader had super legit dramatic acting chops?
This episode was paced and directed fantastically. Props to the director and crew. This show is firing on all cylinders right now.
The switch from comedy to drama to action was great. And the suspense between the real back story to Sam and Berry's reaction to him was great.
And I lost it at this line:
But Holy shite that ending was set up to just be brutal and then was absolutely fantastic.

They've been building to it throughout this season. Showing his depression about his marriage often and it now makes a lot more sense why he didn't want his partner (or subordinate?) joining him in trying to catch Barry. He planned this all along so that he could blackmail a killer into killing his wife's boyfriend.
This is becoming my new favorite show, if it hasn't already. Great story, great acting, and great comedy.

He's a cop and Moss was his friend. He tracked down her killer using police resources and he's going to blackmail him into murdering his ex wife's lover? It's a stretch. But people do all kinds of stupid things and cops probably feel like they can get away with more than most people though so I can go along for now. Plus as I said they have built him up as being depressed about the wife since he first appeared. Still, I think he would need to kill Barry at the end of this and try to make it look like it was while he was apprehending him for the murder.
