she had a sitcom for a short time
She's actually a main character on a very popular one now.

Roaad, your OP implies that Joy Behar is funnier than Lisa Lampanelli.

quote:LL is best as a guest on a round-table discussion show (Real Time, Politically Incorrect, etc) because she's got a fast mind and can crack wise really well. But I agree with you--I'm not particularly interested in watching an hour special from LL.
Lisa Lampanelli is a classic insult comic. Kind of one-dimensional, but she’s one of hundreds ripping of Don Rickles’ schtick. I think she’s funny, but not in a memorable sort of way. I’m not her biggest fan, but I certainly don’t think she’s terrible. She’s pretty middle of the road for me.

You comic snobs are worse than film snobs.
The moment a comedian goes a bit more mainstream, all of a sudden they suck.

Caroline Rhea has a good stand up as well (without Google/internet - can anyone say what else she's known for?)

Whitney Cummings is flat out awful

Yeah, everyone says Louis CK, Jerry Seinfeld, and Chris Rock suck at stand up.
Have you ever thought about the fact that some comedians are just one note hacks with enough material to get well known, and then completely suck after that because aren't that talented? Maybe that's why some comedians get shite on when they go mainstream.
Some will ride the same jokes for years because they haven't built a big enough audience to force them to change their act. As soon as everyone sees their awesome first special, that was 8 or 10 years in the making, they want new material and these guys just can't do it.
Ron White is an example of this.

Bob Saget. Although he may be funnier if he didn't curse every other word during his standups IMO.

No. She was in the recreation of the scene in Man on the Moon.
She's Linda Flynn Fletcher (mother to Phineas and Candace Flynn, step-mother to Ferb Fletcher).

His standup is so-so, but he's gold on Entourage.

She is awful.
Wanda Sykes, on the other hand, is top 3 comedians (male or female) IMO. Her delivery is just great and she seems really cool.

quote:I agree. Whoopi was pretty funny back in the 80's also.
Also, Sinbad was fricking hilarious. So was Gallagher.
Saw Sinbad in Shreveport a couple of years ago. the first hour was his act, but the second hour was literally him taking questions for the audience and just being funny. I bet a lot of comedians can't improv like that.
