I disagree, the new Hogwarts doesn't have that magical feel that the first two movies had. The new one just looks like some really old castle. The first two movies captured that feel of Hogwarts that was described in the books.

Can we all agree that Dolores Umbridge is one of the greatest fictional villains of all time?

She had some pretty great responses to Harry. At times I would have to put down the book because she made me hate her so much.

I gotta ask why you have the number 1? I really dislike this book. You could tell she was having trouble writing it.

as much as i hated her, i have to say, i kind of hated Harry in that one as well, he was in bitch mode most of that book, especially in the beginning

I had an intense loathing for her since I had a teacher in JR. high that was creapily similar to her. She was 5'0, fat, had a very high pitched voice, and was a complete count to people who didn't suck up to her. I was thrilled when I assumed that she was raped and killed by Centaurs, just to find out she survived.

It seems odd since I loved the books so much, but Harry is pretty far down on my list of favorite characters. I thought he was a bitch in most of the books.

Umbridge mostly.

Also the entire book begins the exploration of the depth in the major characters.

ditto.

One of the major complaints I had about DH, was that Umbridge never really "got hers".

he is, but he was in overdrive in Phoenix. If i had to pick a favorite i would have to say Lupin. Looking back on the series after its over though i would say its Snape.

Harry is one of my least favorite characters in the series.

Reminds me alot of Sam from Supernatural or Frodo from LOTR, with respect to being a whiny little bitch.

1. Neville
2. Moody
3. Sirius Black
4. Dobby
5. Dumbledore

Another reason I liked Order, was because you finally (after hearing so much about his awesomeness) get to see how bad arse Dumbledore really is.

thought she nailed Harry as a 15 yr old in his situation w/ his feelings/thoughts/actions. People complain that it was too long but I loved every page of it. It's in my top 2-3 and enjoy it more each time I read read it.

True. Most kids that age are whiney bitches. Yes, I hated Harry, but Rowling was spot on in her depiction of teenagers.

My ranking of the books:
HBP
DH
PoA
OotP
GoF
PS
CS

I felt that Azkaban was where she transitioned from a kid's story to something darker and more real.

One of the most disappointing things about the movies is that, in most cases, they made great casting decisions and got the right people to play the parts. Snape, Umbridge, Hangrid, McGonagall, etc. Hell pretty much all the teachers.

The plot/screenwriting is whats shooting the movies in the foot.

And as mentioned re Umbridge, she was a really great villian, best of the entire series imo.

Overall, I never thought the movies portrayed Snape as bitter and petty as he was towards Harry in the books which took away from their relationship in the movies.
