Yeah I know. We're talking about the show.

Last night you were sure that Peter Jackson and Stephen Colberts son were equals because they are both listed as co-writers and tonight you seem to think that despite being willing to change Snapes skin color in this show they are locked into showing James hang him in a tree.

Does someone follow you around and spoonfeed you everything in life?

People keep saying this...he wasn't hung from a tree. He was hung upside in mid-air by his ankle using a spell, I know that doesnt fit the agenda though. I hate the casting as well but there is no need to make stuff up to try to reinforce how bad the casting is.

Literally isn't.

the movie may have made it look that way

But that isnt what happened in the book, he wasn't "hung from a tree"

This is more book accurate

The imagery of the situation will speak for itself, regardless. A group of white school kids taunting a black kid who’s suspended up in the air…

Right next to a tree.

And then there's the fact that Harry is running around accusing the only black faculty member of wanting to steal the Philosopher's Stone in the very first season. Doesn't make Harry look good at all.

The book is even more twisted. James says he’ll let Snape down if Lily agrees to go out with a date with James. It’s a super weird dynamic when you realize Snape and Lily were close friends, she wasn’t just feeling sorry for the random poor bullied kid.

not attached to the tree, but we are talking imagery in the scene.

Anyway you cut it, even leaving out the tree, the scene cant be done without making James and Sirius look like vile racists

the hanging scene by the lake certainly is in the book.

Are you high?

Only difference is a tree isn't mentioned in the book, just the lake.

Also, if the exact scene YOU ARE SAYING is more accurate comes to fruition, it would still be seen as hanging a black man from a tree, and you know it. Hanging a black man in the air with a tree in the background?

I mean. . .

I have seen no evidence to suggest the contrary

I am guessing you have not either.

And this is pretty chickenshit, bud. Don't hide and try to snipe from another thread. Get back in that one beat me to the ground with the evidence you have acquired and are being super stingy with. . .I believe in you, my guy!

They are saying they want to make a faithful adaptation. Why would you leave out a vital component of Snape's story arc?

The spell flipping Snape upside by the lake in midair by his ankle is absolutely, but when you say something like "hung from a tree" and then in another post say that its literally in the book...you are just wrong...or maybe you are high?

Oh I agree with you, its one on the main reasons I am against this casting, but im also not running around and saying he was hung from a tree on top of it. Its going to be a bad scene without trying to make it seem even worse.

One was about the scene shown in the film, the other was about the bullying scene proper

If they adapt the iconic scene from the film, it will definitely be that.

Will they? I hope not, but will they be able to resist?

They better hope there is no visible trees, lamp posts, gallows, or rafters in the background when they do the scene.

Well, this is not a remake of the movies, its a more detailed remake of the books than the movies were.

It will either be one of two things

1. there will be no tree
2. One of Lupin or Sirius will not be white, which i would have been much more ok with that than making Snape black. Their race does not matter and not described with as much detail as Snape is in the books.

Literallly the only people you could not have made black are Snape, Voldemort, or the Weasleys and the frickers made Snape black

The "from" is the imagery

I am aware, but as with most post-"major adaptation" adaptations, there are iconic scenes from the movies that will be included. It generally tends to work that way.

And this one in particular, because I don't think they will be able to help themselves.

Even Lupin or Sirius being black would make them Stephen from Django. If both were black, maybe that would change the framing somewhat

I said I would have rather Dumbledore or Sirius be black, than Snaps.

Because their being black would not change the characteristics of important and/or major characters.

Making a character named Sirius Black a black actor would be too on the nose. Could you imagine the internet getting ahold of that? It would be the treatment Snape is getting times 10.

I believe one of the Marauders will be black. Most likely Lupin.
