I came away from End Game with little hope going forward for the Marvel universe now that it's basically lost its two biggest stars (acting wise and Character wise with Evans and Downey)....Except for one franchise: Guardians of the Galaxy.

Now that Thor is on board with them, it adds to the already perfect chemistry and cast and really holds onto the last 2 major A-list type, extremely charasmatic actors they have with Hemsworth and Pratt at the helm.

Marvel should basically center their universe around them now, they're the new Avengers. It's easily the most buildable and exciting property right now, especially with the Thor addition and Gammorra basically missing.

It gives them a good plot for the next film and keeps with the space opera stiff that has been so successful. (hate to break it Marvel, but Captain Marvel ain't gonna carry a decades worth or movies like Downey and Co. just did)

Guardians can also introduce a Galactus or Adam Warlock, etc. into the mix for a giant future villain.

I’m guessing that the loss of Downey and Evans added to the pressure to bring Gunn back.

I agree. MCU is REALLY gonna struggle unless they nail F4 and XMen.

And I really hope Thor is in the guardians movie.

Completely agree. If Marvel really goes through with making Captain Marvel and her zero personality the new face of the brand, it would be a baffling move to say the least.

Perfectly said, and give me GotG’s space adventures over Earth. It’s perfect and I hope they bring in Adam Warlock.

I think they are. I think they laid it out with engames ending. Captain marvel, spiderman, antman, and guardians are the driving forces behind the MCU now. Bringing gunn back will put GotG 3 back to the forefront

It kind of goes against the Marvel trope to do more than a trilogy of movies about a character or characters though. They use those three films to build an arc that has a beginning, middle, and end to their individual story. Like at what a complete story the three Captain America and three Thor movies told.

I wouldn’t mind Marvel hitching their wagon to the Guardians/Thor for a longer ride though.

Quill and Thor are both comic relief characters. Actually everyone in the new GOTG is except Nebula. They need a serious leader. Captain Marvel hasn't shown any leadership abilities. She would rather do things by herself and really doesn't need any help since she's basically invincible. Black Panther is already a king so he seems like the obvious choice for new leader. Strange could do it be he seems like more of a tactician, though he is also very strong.

Thor 4 has also been confirmed. So we’ll have Hemsworth in Thor 4 and ASGuardians of the Galaxy and probably 1 more Avengers film.

Besides Galactus, I also want to see Dr. Doom as the next bad in the next Avengers movie

Thor 4 has been pitched to Marvel, yet to be greenlit for the record.

I think they know if they don’t hitch it Thor/ Guardians/ Stange, the MCU will really be struggle. I don’t think Captain Marvel will be the future like they were hoping. Her movie did make $1B but that was because it was a “social event “. Her movie wasn’t that great. Middle of the road MCU film at best.

My guess is the new Avengers will be

Professor Hulk, Spider-Man, Falcon, Bucky, Ant-Man, Scarlet Witch, Doctor Strange, and Black Panther

I do see Marvel eventually joining the Avengers after she encounters the next big villain

I think the next big villain will be Galactus and either The Gaurdians with Thor or Captain Marvel will first encounter him. Possibly Marvel running into Glactus and the Gauridans running into Silver Surfer.

I see either Professor Hulk or Strange leading the new Avengers

The Eternals movie could lay the groundwork for Galactus. Wouldn’t be surprised if Captain Marvel 2 includes a pre powers Fantastic Four.

Yep that sounds right. I think they’ll have a throwaway line about Rhodey retiring like Clint. I don’t think Ruffalo is itching to do anything else. He’s getting paid well and doesn’t necessarily have to do a ton of work now. I see him sticking around a while. It will be interesting how they do Falcon as Cap. He’s not a super soldier. Just a regular dude. My guess is the TV series tries to augment him somehow. I also think CM stays on Earth after talking to Fury. Fury is gonna tell her they didn’t need her because they had Tony and Cap and both are gone now and that Earth needs help her help rebuilding. I hope Rudd sticks around and Lily as Wasp. I’d add her to the roster.

I also think they bring a nerfed version of Vision back. Bettany ain’t giving up his gig anytime soon. I really think the MCU would benefit by throwing major $$$ at Hemsworth to stay and let him work with Taika and James Gunn specifically and do those movies, have an appearance every now and then.

I still think they’re gonna have to nail the F4 and the new Wolverine. I doubt they’ll want all of the X-Men in the Avengers right away. Wolverine can bridge that gap. The F4 can pretty much directly work with the Avengers too like Cap and Rhodey and Widow did while also having their own movies aside from that. If they get a great Reed Richards, Sue Storm and a New Logan that fans embrace, a Victor von Doom that fans loved like they did Loki, then they’ll be able to have some legs for a Phase 4 and maybe a Doom movie.

One person people are forgetting about is Shang Chi. Marvel has big plans for him since he's Chinese and I know he was an Avenger at one point. I'm guessing he joins eventually but I don't know much about his character or how important he'll be. I assume the Eternals will factor in to future Avengers movies as well.

I guess he could factor in. Iron Man was a relatively unknown character and RDJ made him famous. It could work. I just think this was not only the OG 6’s Swan Song but the MCU’s Swan Song.

After Guardians 3 and Far From Home, I don’t know if I’ll watch anymore. I’m not invested in Black Panther, Dr Strange or CM. People are going to realize Evans, Hemsworth and RDJ carried the MCU after The Avengers came out.

I don’t know how they go back to the good old earth villains after this. Spider-Man vs Mysterio seems so trivial after that final fight scene.

They’ve got to stay with the galactic villains if they want another ten year build up like this.

They have to at some point, right? They can't tease us with it and never follow through.

I was an Marvel fan as a kid (primarily x-men cartoon, video games, cards, and a few, but not that many comics) and I have never heard of Shang Chi.

If they make him a big character, it's just such an obvious money ploy for the Chinese market and for them to grandstand about how they have an Oriental lead. Don't know anything about him, but it just seems a bit out of left field to me.

Honestly, though, it seems they're kind of starting to run out of big name heros and villains at this point, unless they start working in Fantastic 4 and X-men stuff pretty soon (which I don't think they are planning yet).

But x-men outside of a few storylines was always very Earth-based and kind of more gritty and realistic vs all of the cosmic stuff which audiences love now.

Apocalypse follows in the Thanos vein of villains, if done right, but he's weaker than Thanos, so I don't know how that would work out.

Marvel is really, really going to have huge shoes to fill after such an incredible and complex villain.
