Ugh, as usual, tournaments end up all over the place. There's no strong contender to Rocky left. It might even be unanimous in the end.

So many sports movies end up the "undertalented team/person goes against the better opponent and wins," and Rocky is the #1 movie for that story. There's is nothing close.

Tin Cup is about the best thing left that bucks the trend, Moneyball is the best at the sports business and The Sandlot is probably the best film left about the meaning of sports honestly.

And there are far too many baseball movies left. Blah.

If Caddyshack or The Sandlot was in the other division, Rocky wouldn't stand a chance. As it is, he might eek in if those two movies split the fun-instead-of-sports vote.

Caddyshack being a sports movie is a big stretch anyways. It's a country club movie, not really a sports movie. When the two go head to head, no conscious person rating the two should pick Caddyshack. As a sports film, Rocky is in a different universe compared to Caddyshack.

Baseball isnt my favorite sport, but baseball overall does have the best movies.

If you were to rank them by sport, baseball's 10th best movie is better than the 3rd or 4th best movie of other sports. It wasnt too surprising that that many made it imo.

Edit: I'll close the voting in a little bit. Haven't been to my office yet today, it's been a ruff day.

Doing a recount now.

One match is tied, another is a one point lead and another is a four point lead.

I'll leave it open and if another vote comes in it'll be the tie breaker

Jesus christ. Upon recount, one is tied, and the other two are one point leads.

I actually disagree completely. The aura of baseball as America's original past time is what makes those movies feel better, but Hoop Dreams, Escape to Victory, Breaking Away, Warrior, The Wrestler, are better than all baseballs but probably the Natural, Sandlot and maybe Bull Durham.

No im not saying there arent great movies from other sports. Sure you can take Breaking Away and rank it better than a decent amount of baseball movies, but how many good cycling movies are there . Hoop Dreams is one of my favorite movies of all time. Throw in documentaries and it changes the game a little. When We Were Kings and HBO's new doc on Ali, Whats My Name, are fantastic documentaries that I would put over a number of baseball movies. But there are some great baseball documentaries too, Kens Burns Baseball and The Life and Times of Hank Greenberg, that would add to baseballs already good catalog.

I was meaning you take maybe the 7th-15th best baseball movies, and compare it to the 7th-15th best basketball movies, you you have a pretty drastic difference in quality. Compare it to any sport, and baseball has the deepest lineup.
