They would have a made a point of showing it. the whole scene of her saying she has no more allies left is significant because she would be less inclined to ask Jon to bend the knee, since she's basically alone

Well, in the books Jaime and Tyrion both conclude that Joffrey sent the assassin.
Tyrion thinks Joffrey did it because Tyrion told Joffrey to pay respects to the Stark's for Brans injury.
Jaime thinks Joffrey did it because Robert said that it would be a mercy if Bran died and Joffrey thought it would impress his "dad" if he had him killed.
Joffrey basically admits to it with his "I am no stranger to Valyrian steel" line.
I don't think LF had a role in the assassination attempt but he definitely lied about it being Tyrions dagger to start a war between the Starks and Lannisters.

I'm pretty sure Littlefinger's a-hole tuckered when he saw Arya fighting and then looking up at him.
He knows he's about seven kinds of fricked with Jon away but the rest of the Starks back. He thought he could manipulate Sansa while Jon wasn't there. Now he has more eyes watching him.
He's going to do something desperately stupid and get his head lopped off, Ned Stark style.

I think the main point of his storyline at Winterfell will be that he only gets places by sowing discord. The threat of the Night King is so great at this point, that his old tricks just don't work.

Maybe once Jamie survives, he talks with his long lost brother and he apologizes for not believing him about Joffreys death and they both agree that Cersei is the downfall of the KL and they team up with Danny to save the kingdoms from the white walkers

It could be a red herring. We think it's going to connect to Littlefinger (which I really wouldn't mind). But it's really going to be given to her by Bran because he "sees" her fighting the White Walkers too. And it's Valyrian steel.

I just really hope Royce is OK with LF's death.
