Damn. Are you that insecure about your masculinity that a TV show with powerful female leads offends you?
I'd get it if Ceresi, Dany, Sansa, etc. were written poorly. But they're not.

There is a big girl power push in the show. Writers admitted as much this week on the inside the episode clip.

Nope, just tired of seeing men as being shown to be the dumber or mentally weaker of the sexes. I get it, it's a fantasy story, but the humans are still very human, and in those days women didn't have anywhere close to that amount of power. It especially gets on my nerves when that cünt Olenna Tyrell constantly bashes men in general. frick her.
At least they aren't going all out with the women beating men's asses like that movie atomic blonde and others.

How many major male characters are left on the show and how many of them are in positions of major authority? So many men have died that the females have risen to the top to rule the land.
Cersei had Robert, Joffrey, Tywin, Tommen, Stannis, and Renly in her way at the start of the show. All of them are now dead and she is the sole ruler of the Seven Kingdoms with no one playing puppeteer in the background.
Virtually every woman left alive in the show is in a seat of power. Dany is claiming to be the ruler of the Seven Kingdoms, Cersei IS the ruler of the Seven Kingdoms, Sansa (as far as she knows) is the last true heir to House Stark, and Olenna is now the heir of House Tyrell.
All of this was made possible due to attrition. Most of the major male characters have been killed off. Who else is left but the women of Westeros?

What days? The fake fantasy world he wrote isn't being historically accurate to ... itself?
Also - some women did have power - you are talking about two ruling class women that are the heads of their families not random peasant women. The certainly had power in historical medieval times in that situation. You are creating a narrative that isn't there.

Most of the bad shite that has happened in the story happened due to women.

And if GRRM has loosely based it upon The War of the Roses, women at times held significant power. Elizabeth of York, Margaret Beaufort, etc.

Well, when were swords, shields, body armor, knighthood, kingdoms, Lords and Ladies prevalent in the world?

Ya - i am actually reading something my grandmother wrote right now that involves that time period (my grandmother was kind of crazy but wrote a short book about how she thinks that the accepted timeline in history is wrong and it involves a lot of these storylines).

along with dragons and ice zombies?
not sure
GRRM invented the world and he defines its rules - it doesn't matter what it resembles.

Yeah because dragons were never mentioned in the Medieval Era.
Posted on 7/24/17 at 8:17 pm to TigerFanInSouthland
So you really think the story needs to make an effort to be somewhat true to a medieval time period?

No, just think it should cool it with all the girl power bullshite. And at least try and act unbiased.

Someone is coming off as biased and it's not the showrunners.

Yara never truly had power and might be good as dead now. (Euron is the King of the Iron Islands). Ellaria and her Sand Snakes are done for. Olena is a smart women (probably the only one of the group) but even she has failed. Most of her family is gone and very likely her top bannerman will betray her too. Cersei is going to fail in the end thanks in part to her arrogance.
The only one that will truly amount to anything now is Dany and she has had a lot of help along the way.
I don't see why this bothers you so much

This may be an interesting discussion for the book board - but most fantasy epics draw heavily from historical sources. As Bluegrass Belle said, this one is heavily influenced by War of the Roses (Lancaster vs. York) but doesn't claim to be a "historical fantasy" and is likely best described as a world-building series which incorporates many aspects (I disagree with those that call it medieval fantasy - if it was only set in Westeros that classification would hold more weight IMO).
In the end, most fantasy series have only one rule - that the series stays true to itself and is consistent without breaking any of the rules of the world. This of course is limited in that if an author creates some crazy world / rules that only he understands or enjoys - he probably won't get published.

So you want them to not be true to the source material, because GRRM has been pretty straightforward about the role of women in his series?
