As far as the Mance death scene, it's pretty much what happens in ADWD. Mance is burned and archers under orders from Jon give him a quick death. It turns out that the Red Woman used her powers to transform another wildling into the image of Mance, and, therefore, Mance was saved from execution.

Not sure if that's what's going to happen in the show because there hasn't been any mention of Mance's son, the motivation for him helping Stannis later. The elimination of Mance's son also has ramifications for Sam's trip with Gilly and Maester Aemon.

Cersei flashback was atrocious. They might as well have kept to their no flashback rule rather than destroy this scene as badly as they did. No mention of Valonqar and they don't include her friend dying as proof of the witch's power. It was a flashback to show that Cersei was told her husband would be unfaithful and she would have 3 incetuous children. OMG!!!!

I think they can continue the flashbacks to provide more of it throughout the season, no? kinda like in the books?

The scene with Lancel following was pretty brilliant.

I assume Lancel will play the part of the Kettlebacks

yeah. lol at everyone bitching about valonqar. they could've cut it a little short to show it later, or they could do another scene where she goes back to the hut.

yes

im glad they cut out Aegon. worst decsion Martin made in the books imo. too big a character to introduce so late in the story

kinda pissed if mance is dead. hoping that he's really not. retards wont remember who rattleshirt is if they go that route. i was thinking that they may glamour up Tormund instead since he's so much more prominent in the show. My guess is that Ciaran Hinds had other shite to do and that Tormund is gonna get the spearwives and go to winterfell.

frick. from an interview where they ask about the divergence. Hinds is done no matter what. Either Mance as a glamoured Tormund, or Tormund himself will carry the torch

quote:

Yeah. In the books there’s a lot more than there is in the television series. It’s impossible to recreate everything that’s in the books. You can’t be absolutely faithful to the book, and why would you want to be? It’s a different medium. You have to make decisions and bold decisions and there are so many other characters, that there is enough in the pot. I imagine that if Mance were to come back, like in the books, he’d come back in a different guise, as a different person—it wouldn’t involve me, probably. Then you have to think: Well, in the story, if you can imagine him coming back, does it make sense for him to still be involved when there’s still so much else going on? These are huge decisions [the showrunners] have to deal with and so far they’ve been dealing with them brilliantly, so far as I can see.

The book dealt with this in phases is what some people are forgetting. We didn't get the full prophesy until well half-way into the book.

And if they don't? It's garbage without the Valonqar prophecy plain and simple. It is a flashback to explain something that book readers and show watchers alike both already know.

Completely disagree. Book needed a new threat/hero whichever way you want to look at it. Him being a Blackfyre is brilliant in the books, but doesn't add to the show.

I could get behind this. I liked Tormund in the books more and would like to see him in Winterfell.

Guilty. At what other points in the book did they go back? They could easily show more in the show when she is in Sparrow jail. Hopefully it gets fixed.

That hypothetical chapter (which I think will happen) is the only chapter I'd actually want from Dany's POV.

I was going to put the exact same thing but after reviewing my posting in a "hazy" state from last night, I decided to pull back the reigns some. That damn fat man...

So, I'm starting to come around on leaving Aegon out of the show. I get it.

I'm much more bothered by the direction they're taking with Sansa, her marrying Ramsay (which seems to be likely) just doesn't make sense even in the show. Her character has gone through enough and has become stronger as the series progresses. Having her locked up and raped repeatedly by Ramsay would just seem to be a regression back to her season 1 days.

It really seems that is what is going to happen. I hope I'm wrong.

Doubt this will happen. The plan may be for LF to marry her off but something, either Stannis or Theon, will frick that up.

I think there was a scene with LF and Sansa standing in some crypts in one of the season 5 trailers. Speculation has been that they are Winterfell's crypts and they are there because LF plans to marry Sansa off to Ramsay.
