This bugs me. The populations of places in Westeros and such seem to not make much sense.

But there were another 500,000 in kings landing alone?

And I just don't see how 500k people can live in Kings Landing.
I know it's a really small issue but the population stuff bugs me

I don't see why that's an issue. Less than a million men were part of the Western forces during the invasion of Europe (minus Russia).

Could've been an estimation/exaggeration. I doubt that Westeros has people who conduct population surveys every 10 years like they do in the US, or at least have the statistics and math to do so. Regardless, Jaime saved more lives that day than people he has killed...IMO I think he's more honorable for not doing the "honorable" thing. As much as Ned yapped about being honorable, would he have really let Aerys burn the city?? I know I wouldn't have.

over a million people lived in Rome 2,000 years ago. King's landing is only the third most populated city in Westeros. Oldtown has more and I think White Harbor does too.

Just finished the DVR. Was a bit disappointed in the bear scene, but it wasn't that bad. Loved the scene with Tywin and Joffrey. It seems that every single scene with Tywin is solid gold.
