I know this show is good because I'm still a little bit in shock about the episode. I wonder what the season finale will have for us? Tying up loose ends and straightening out the body count or a few more WTF moments. I feel they have to wrap up Theons and Jaime/Breannes storylines.

Apparently, I'm supposed to feel bad the 3 Starks are dead, but instead, I'm elated because all 3 sucked. Good riddance I say.
I kinda agree, although I didn't hate Robb and Cat...but they did annoy me a good bit. I hate to see cat die more than Robb mainly because of her kids (like Bran/Rickon and Arya..especially Arya).
Also, this was the first time I didn't want to throw shite at my TV when Bran was onscreen.

so...
dont have too much to say at this point. I'm going to rewatch this episode, but I'd rather hold any comments till after the finale next week
I really wasnt that shocked by these events. To me, Ned's beheading was the ultimate "WTF did I just see happen?" moment in this series. If this was the BIG MOMENT some of those that had read the book were alluding to, color me a slight shade of underwhelmed.
I never thought for one second that Robb would survive, albeit, I didn't think he'd die the way he did, I've learned that nobody in Westeros dies a noble death. It's all some form of subterfuge or backstabbing. Who (of note) has died in battle? or one on one combat?
I'm actually quite glad Cathryn is dead, I could not stand her character from day one She was the the Peggy Hill of Westeros with her over-inflated sense of self entitlement. Good riddance
I'm going to hold off on speculating about Jon or dragon tits till after next week, we're so close to the end, might as well wait.

Grantland Article on the Episode
this guy did a good job of summing up why I woke up feeling bad for Cat:
quote:
Cat Stark's final scream, as she slit one innocent throat in grim anticipation of having the same thing done to her own, was one of acceptance. She had spent a lifetime trying things the honorable Stark and Tulley way, trekking up and down a continent to receive a box of bones and calling it a kindness, freeing Jaime Lannister, the man who tried to kill her son, in hopes of saving her daughters. In her final moments, Cat Stark saw the world as it truly was, not the way doomed crusaders like her late husband desperately imagined it to be.

I still wanted to throw shite at the screen. The greatest tragedy of that wedding is that Bran was not there to join his brother and mother in the netherworld.

If OML and one or two others were banned that would probably set the tone that readers should stay the frick out of this thread altogether.
Earlier in the thread there was a reader who posted a post that started off "I have a question for the book readers". WTF.
And some of the non readers need to pay better attention to the show. Some are so bad it makes anyone who even remotely pays attention look like a book reader.
Ultimately, these threads have just been one big shite show all season with little to no merit. I don't understand why that is allowed to happen continually. And I have used the RA feature a few times, something I rarely ever do, so its not like attention isn't being called to this.
Oh well.

This thread has been glorious
A previous poster asked that any differences between the show and the book not be posted here (even if it isn't a spoiler), so I would like to ask all of the other readers to do the same. Keep those for the Readers and (possibly) Middle Ground thread.
Things have happened that may or may not change theories, but even speculating might inadvertantly reveal something that hasn't happened yet.
With that, we really would like to see more of you non-readers in the Middle Ground thread. :)

I figured Robb and crew would die, but as many said did not see the manner in which they died occurring.
Also can someone tell me the significance of the song being played? I believed people referenced it earlier in the thread, but not sure. TIA

I just watched that compilation and cried all over again. I need to watch this episode again but I know it will be painful to do.

That song was "The Rains of Castamere" that Cersei was talking about last episode (song about how Tywin completely wiped some family off the earth).

I know that they probably dont have a ton of the same viewership but why the frick would AMC put the killing on last night to start the season? why not wait two more weeks?
the first two episodes of your new season is gonna go up against the two biggest episodes of one of the most popular shows. Doesnt make sense

I like the sow but some of you get a little to into it. I actually enjoyed the wedding scene as it made up for the tremendous boredom we have had to endure every time Cat and the king of the North have been on screen this season. If Bran soon meets a similar fate and we are gifted with much more Arya and tyrion this show could reach BB status in my book.

Watched the first hour of the killing and then watched GoT live while The last hour of the killing and nurse Jackie recorded.
