In all sincerity, I was waiting for HBO to completely frick with the book readers and just change the entire thing. Have Robb and Walder just get sloppy drunk together and march on Tywin together.

Well the Lannisters clearly had something to do with it as one of the throat dicers said essentially said "The Lannisters say frick you" before the dicing of the throat.
My thoughts:
1) So many throats got fricked up this episode, Macgruber would blush.
2) Unfortunately, I wasn't shocked by what happened. Before the book chuckers were pretty firmly relegated to their separate but equal thread, there were too many "IF Robb were killed" situations brought up for it not to be a foregone conclusion.
3) So Melisandre or whatever the hot red headed lady's name is basically said Arya would be a badass leader some day when she looked in her eyes. I'm trying to think of what army she could lead, and my best guess is a combination of loyal northerners (which there should still be plenty of, it's not like the whole army got throatfricked, just the leader), the men without banners (she related to them in captivity, although they could come in play for Stannis since they share a religion), and the wildcard: the Wildlings. Jon Snow would be a possible strong intermediary between the northerners and them.

Forgot about that. Daeny has an ever-improving army that could make noise, and she may not be against giving the north independence. Her + Arya/Hound leading the slave army, unsullied, northerners supporting independence from King's Landing, and possibly the wildlings = everyone else should give up.
Also, Melisandre cursed three people a few episodes ago, and one is now dead. Joffrey and Papa Greyjoy better watch their asses.
